Is disclosure actually wise?

For most of my life, I was skeptical about UFOs and alien visitations. As a boy and young adult, I assumed the people claiming these experiences were either seeing things that couldn’t be explained by current science or were simply crazy. Later, as a thirty-something adult, my view softened somewhat, but I remained doubtful, say about 50/ 50 . There was almost never clear video proof, and too many of the loudest voices seemed to be profiting from books, lectures, and media appearances. Today, my opinion has shifted dramatically. We now have credible testimony from military pilots, radar data, and government officials—including those briefed in Congress—who insist these phenomena are real. The quality and quantity of evidence have reached a point where full disclosure feels inevitable. After years of watching this topic evolve, I am now about 90% convinced that intelligent beings not from Earth exist and have interacted with us. So there, I said it. But here’s the bigger and more urgent question:

Is disclosure actually wise? Are we, as a civilization, truly ready for it?

The genie is already out of the bottle. Oh my. Multiple nations possess this information, including some with whom we have tense or adversarial relationships. If the United States continues to hesitate, another country could choose to reveal what they know at any moment. So why haven’t any of the major powers come forward with a full, official announcement? My theory is simple and sobering: governments understand the enormous risks better than the public does.

We know almost nothing about the politics of the wider universe. We don’t know whether other dimensions exist or what might live in them. We have no idea how many sentient species are out there, whether they are friendly toward humanity, or what their own laws, ethics, and agendas might be. We don't even know if they are water based beings, machine based beings or something else that is for now pure science fiction. We are technologically primitive by comparison—likely 10,000 years or more behind any civilization capable of interstellar travel. That gap alone should give us pause. The fear of the unknown would be overwhelming. Humanity has never faced a revelation of this magnitude. Full disclosure could trigger widespread panic, societal upheaval, and a crisis of meaning on a global scale. Suddenly our differences do not seem to matter anymore. Ronald Reagan once said it best at the United Nations.

"I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world." — Ronald Reagan, 1987. Who was he talking to?! Not you and I. Indeed. He knew something.

Consider just a few of the immediate consequences:

Economic shock: The stock market would almost certainly crash, at least in the short term. Uncertainty is the enemy of investment. Entire industries—from energy and transportation to defense and religion—could be thrown into chaos overnight.

Religious impact: Many believers would face a profound collision between their faith and visual, undeniable proof of extraterrestrial intelligence. Ancient religious texts might suddenly appear incomplete or metaphorical in ways that challenge core doctrines. For thousands of years, humanity has assumed we were special in the cosmic order. Learning otherwise, with alien video evidence, would be deeply destabilizing for millions. The history of earth will be completely re-writreen.

My conclusion is straightforward: we are not ready for full disclosure.

If disclosure must happen—and it probably will—then those in power should proceed with extreme caution. Reveal perhaps only 5% of what is known: confirm that non-human intelligence is real, that some of these craft are not made by any nation on Earth, and that they have been observed for decades. Only show the poistvies. Leave the deeper questions—the who, why, how, and what it all means—for later, once society has had time to absorb the basic reality.Rushing everything at once risks panic, division, and unintended consequences we cannot yet imagine. The universe is far bigger and stranger than we thought. We should approach that truth with humility and wisdom, not with the urgency of a headline or a viral video on social media. The truth may set us free—but only if we’re prepared to receive it. I think we have not developed as a society yet to reach this readiness.

That's what I think. *Barring a bad sci fi movie of alien invasion, or some violent video we are not ready. Such videos would put the fear in people like most 99.99999% of people alive have never experienced.

As of right now some of my thoughts on this topic are beyond limits of what will post. The President of the USA has ordered disclosure in 2026. Well above the confidential level , secret level, or top secret level. This is at the Omega level if there is such a thing. Why did he do that? And he seems cool as a cucumber on the topic.

    Edit this post I may.

Our existence has been just a blip in time compared to the age of the universe. To think that other civilizations exist simultaneously in our blip of time, it's just not realistic. That those other civilizations also have the technology to visit us, AND live in close enough proximity to physically visit us, is science fiction.
The components that make up life on earth are abundant and plentiful throughout the universe. But for now, we are unique in many other factors that are required for what we call life, never-mind intelligent life.
I'll take my disclosure from the scientific community, not the political community.

Well I take my disclosure form high ranking politicians, officials testimonials of military people , and videos.

Any day all day over science which has its share of paid based observations.

The facts are disclosure is happening and it has little to do with known science.

    So ...

    I agree with

But time itself is part of the equation. What is normal for you and I may not be the same for all.
