I'm starting to doubt about Conner. Should we go high with a running back in next year draft? Like Bryce Love of Stanford? I like Conner but he's more of a 2nd string RB. Our OL seems to have slipped in run blocking. It's going to be a rough ride.

    He is a good #2, not a #1

They shouldn't go anything but defense in the first 3 rounds of the draft until they can field a competent defense.. Tired of watching this s***

Running vs Balt is always tough, but run blocking by our o-line was atrocious tonight.

He'd be fine if the O and whoever's running it wasn't starting out in a deficit! He's been solid situationally and does what's needed but for some reason this team forgot how to play good situational ball and they don't spring to life until the **** hits the fan! Tonight they put their own out flames on O for whatever ****ing reason but it isn't due to James ability/inability.

I have to agree about Conner. He looks pretty good in space and ok in the passing game, but He doesn’t look like a player that makes something out of nothing...He’s not gonna churn out the tough yards and isn’t very agile, often losing balance. There are a lot of pretty good backs coming out next year....we’ll see.

Love is undersized, and injury prone so no he isn't the answer.

Yeah. I have to agree. Like someone mentioned, a number two, not a number one. But we have to address the defense first. First three picks should be defense.

As I have alluded too since we have drafted James Conner that he was no L, Bell but more than capable

RB that can play football. He is not our problem. A terrible defensive scheme is. Thanks Coach T

I'm wondering why we aren't running back by committee. Get some change of pace. Ride the hot hand. Let Samuel's and Riddely see what they can do.
The bigger problem is the defense. We were rushing 3 and dropping 8 and still couldn't cover anyone. I don't know if it's being outcoached or simply horrible play. Terrell Edmund's is NOT good in any way. Just because Fitz threw him a present last week, don't think he's talented. He gets run over and lost in space. None of the D backs want to deliver a hit. I watch them catching people and trying to arm tackle. I don't know that this team has looked this bad since 2006 when we had the Super Bowl hangover.

To soon to tell. We are making no attempt to establish the running game right now. Give the guy 20 to 25 carries next week and let's see how he does.

Totally agree. You can find FA running backs all over. You can see how much confidence the Steelers have in Connors based solely on the amount of downs that Switzer saw.

Draft picks and replacing current players is nice but it doesn't matter who's on the bus if the people driving it are the same. Can't seem to believe other teams have better talent than we do but get different results.

I agree, but we've seen enough of Connor at this point to know what he is. His skill set is limited. He reminds me of Redman or Dwyer. Can do some things well but his upside is capped.

He's a power back with very little elusiveness .

I don't think Connor is very good, but you're right, at this point in time he's not our problem. He's capable if he's used right . We need to use a bit of a committee though

OConnor is clearly the present. Bell ain't coming back and they don't have much else. But the future? If/when Bell leaves for good, I'll bet the Steelers grab an RB no later than round three. If he's the future, then the future is a one-dimensional wing-it offense.

God bless OConnor, but he seems marginal at best as a #1 back, and I'll be shocked if doesn't miss 3-4 games this yr to injury.

I think he's a good committee back. I've said, IMO, he'll never be a true #1 but add a Dion Lewis type and another decent back (maybe Ridley or Samuels are that guy) and we would be fine.

Maybe... but it's four damn games and we've been throwing 75% of the time.

Other than week one we have had 3 terrible weeks of setting up the run game. Getting out scored 45-6 in the 1st quarter of games, takes your run game away fast.

Conner only had 9 carries in this game, it's impossible to grade a back on 9 touches, you have to feed a back more than 9 times to evaluate him.........
