Cam made his mark. He is a Steeler great not only on the field but off of it. Steelers Great is enough for me. Very few have ever done it.

He’s second tier when it comes to Steelers greats. And that’s not a bad thing.

that is your opinion. you are entitled to it. one more thing is the rule changes from when joe played too. for a large portion of his career he could head slap the offensive linemen and the offensive linemen couldn't use their hands like today. joe played defensive tackle in a 4-3 and cam defensive end and tackle in a 3-4. makes a huge difference going against a center and guard as opposed to a guard and tackle. cam isn't done yet either. there is no second tier about him or joe. not sure where you get that but OK. :hmm::shrug::cool:

I like me some fried bologna. Don't knock it till you have tried it!

Cam is not in the same class as Mean Joe Greene. Greatest Steeler hands down.

Heyward: A Steeler great? Yes. HOFer? Not.

The late LC Greenwood should be in there.

I feel Cam is an all time Steelers great, and has been very disrespected by the fan base for how good he is.

I wish as team we would of have a little more sucess, in the playoffs and seasons while he's been here.

He is like fine wine just gets better with age it seems. You think you see a drop in his play by now, but its not happening.

I met Cam once at a Penguins game, very friendly and nice person, he also had hands the size of oven mitts.

The 4-3, 3-4 point is actually a good point. Also during His play we have changed how We play the 3-4....So that should also be thought about....added in....My main thing is Heyward has not been great against the run. Early in His career He was on roller skates in the run game, but He has gotten better every year. So like I said originally...Every Year He plays....I Like , and respect Him more ,and more.

Cam has been a stud, but there a lot of Steeler greats though and only 99 numbers.

The Steelers don't officially retire numbers anyways. They just don't issue them. I think 75 is the only number officially retired

Perhaps this a subjective thing. Guys like Green played like 40+ years ago almost 50 and is still remembered fondly. I'm just not sure that Hayward will be remembered 40 years from now, in that same light. Idk if SBs are the main requisite because guys like Lloyd, Steed and Woodson are remembered from teams 25 years ago. TJ Watt will definitely be remembered as an all time great. That to me is the difference between good/great and pantheon. It could definitely be about DLman being underappreciated due to our scheme.

The Steelers officially retired Ernie Stautner's #70 in 1964. 50 years later in 2014 they retired Joe Greene's #75. That's it, only those 2 numbers ever officially retired.

Keep that same energy when discussing Tomlin, how many times do we hear about only three playoff wins in the last eleven years .

you will have them though. the numbers for cam are right there with joe. i'm not sure how some are doubting how good he is too. this thread wasn't started as a comparison between the two or as 6 now brought in tomlin for some reason. it's about steeler greats and cam more than qualifies.

cam should have played in that era. he could have fit right in with that group. i loved me some dwight white back then. he was the one that didn't get all the hype near as much as the others but man he was good at what he did.
