I choose option #3 ... his job is not safe, but I don't expect his to be replaced this week.

There was no 5 yard penalty. We took a timeout.

Oh I thought they said "they'll take the 5yds" or something like that. That was the reason I said that. I'm fine with that then. Still maybe they iced Wing though? LOL. Tomlin has been known to ice his own kicker. He ice Suisham in Nashville a couple of years ago. LOL.

Brad Wing did not help his chances with his bad punt, but that bad punt alone was far from the reason why the Steelers lost yesterday. It should have never came down to that.

Honestly no he shouldn't be replaced. Had we played to win the game it wouldn't have mattered. Or had the defense not allowed a big pass play while basically playing prevent defense it wouldn't have mattered.

This game was lost way before the bad punt. If you are going to cut the guy over a mistake there should be a lot of new faces at the Steelers facility today.

Well I don't think they are scapegoating. I just think that maybe they might feel a punter is more easily replaced than a LB or CB that needs a degree in heiroglyphics to understand the system and every little bit helps. Also a guy with a more consistent leg that can flip field position on a regular basis would be handy with this "defense" that we have. I agree though that our problems run MUCH deeper than the punter though.

I'm sorry, I missed the last 2:00 of the game. Did Brad Wing line up at CB and allow the 41 yard reception to setup that final TD? I'm confused.

But to stick to the actual Poll, Yes, I believe the stellar Coaching staff (Tomlin) likes to place blame on punters..... so Brad Wing will probably be cut. Clearly he is the only thing holding this team back from being 16-0 and a Super Bowl contender.

If there is a better punter available, then why the hell hadn't we signed him before now?

I guess Tomlin just wanted to see if Wing could live up to the "standard"??? LOL.

Get Adam Podlesh on the line and sign him, Wing picks the worst possible time to have a 29 yd punt replace him.

Podlesh is out (reserve/did not report) with a family emergency.

He certainly was not the only one to blame in that debacle, but I agree with you. This team needs a shake up and I think he will be the example.

Wing has not been very consistent yet. However I don't think they are going to replace him this week.

Exactly. You don't cut a bad player only to replace him with a worse player. Wing has potential, and it's very clear, however his play is just like the entire team's - inconsistent. Let's keep him around for the season to see if he can improve.

I'm actually surprised to see how many people are supportive of him. To me, he's been sub standard from preseason forward. The stats may prove me wrong, but they eyeball test tells me that he does not get a great combination of height and distance on his punts when trying to flip the field and he is not really that great in pinning teams inside their 10 when pooch punting. I don't think it is fair to lay the blame on him for the loss, but a 29 yard shank in that situation is what gets undrafted, rookie punters cut during a season - assuming there is somebody out there that is better, which I believe there has to be.

Bring back Drew Butler I'm sure he can do better than a 29 yard punt at the end of the game.

here's a thought, maybe MT should have brought in more competition in august if he wasn't happy. this is two years in a row we haven't found an acceptable punter. maybe longer. maybe debo could snap it high back to the 1 run back there pick it up and run 99 yards for a TD.:smiley1::cool:

My fear is that if Ben has a bad pooch we will cut him. LOL. Tomlin might be about to set a precedence.
