There's always 100 excuses made why Belichek wins so many games. He's facing his understudies, Brady is the greatest ever, Randy Moss was there, Cassell was actually a great QB, he has Gronk, Jimmy G is actually a really good QB, his opponents play like crap, etc, etc, etc.

I've never heard of so many reasons given to discount wins. All the guy does is win regardless of the roster he has. His opponents often look bad because that's what he does. He disects the hell out of the opponent and takes away what they do best. When a team does something well, he focuses all his energy on stopping that one thing and he makes them go to plan B. Then he adapts to that and takes that away too. That is why the Texans looked so terrible, because the Pats made them look terrible. He's been doing it since he came to NE, it's not a fluke at this point nor is there any reason why it keeps happening other than he's probably the greatest coach to ever live in any sport.

I believe we might be the most talented team in the league (I've been critical of Colbert since 2009, but I'll give him a ton of credit these days), but we don't execute well at times. I truly believe if Belichek was our coach, there would be a realistic chance we'd go undefeated and win the SB and we'd be blowing teams out in the process. It's been said by many that we're a stupid football team, when has that ever been said about NE? Those guys always execute so well despite a high roster turnover. I'm not a NE fan by any means, but man, what I wouldn't give to have a coach like that, a coach that ensures our players execute every single week, a coach that finds ways to win no matter the circumstances.

Jacoby Brisset has a torn ligament in his throwing hand. Unknown how much time he'll miss but Brady is back week 5 anyway. I wonder what Doug Flutie is doing these days

Like I just said in another thread, system to me means you plug any QB in and they throw for a ton of yards and TD's.

I consider what you are talking about as preparation. A system doesn't change from week to week.

The plays were there, though. Bissett didn't have the reps yet to make them. He had one receiver on a deep route all alone and had Bennett for a TD. Bissett did do the ol' Brady "short pass to Amendola" that on a 3rd and 15 that Amendola then spun and weaved his way for a first down.

You're right. Preparation. No team in NFL history, that I have ever seen, executes better than the Patriots under Belichick. And this is particularly true of the offensive line. The line play is so good, year in and year out, that when Brady faces moderate pressure (as he did in last year's AFCCG and the team's two SB losses to the Giants), we're so unaccustomed to it that it looks worse than it is.

Texans played bad, BB neutralized their league leading pass rush, give him credit for that but overall, Texans stunk out the joint. Had the Steelers lost a game like that, the lynch mob would have been out for Tomlin. Tomlin sucks, can't prepare the team, no effort, blah blah.
