Does anyone else think these 2 big moves are because of Big Ben saying he was thinking about retiring? Steelers front office finally sees a 2 year window?

I think it absolutely contributes to the thought process, but you'd like to think that these moves just made sense irrespective of Ben's closing window. Two solid moves by the FO.

Big Ben is going to need to start scoring in the red zone. He has been unclutch for almost 10 years now.

Doesn't get anymore clutch than marching downfield to win the Superbowl....however I've always felt we were SO LUCKY "Franciso falls down"

It certainly plays a part, but I seriously doubt it was the sole cause. James hasn't developed as much as hoped and the defense has struggled a bit .Those two things are definitely contributing factors as well.

Of course it does .We are more of a play it safe type of Team when drafting and with FA'S.We have missed to much in the draft now that we have been targeting a bit .No bold moves mind you like I would have liked to seen. The real threat of Ben not being here is upon them now and as such they are in smart mode.

Should have already been in this mode , but better late than never . Who knows Ben might stay more years if he is not the main reason that we win? I don't think Ben is that type of guy.IMO he is more of a watch what I do in big moments type of guy.If he goes into a game feeling he must be great all the time to produce wins I think it hurts him ...

Should have been targeting some stud DB'S years ago.

They is a good reason our stud OL and one of Ben's best mates went to bat to get a potentially good CB .

Absolutely, along with the fact we were just a few of bricks shy of a load last year.

I think the FO knows we have been at the door step 2 years now.... the only thing that has beat us are injuries and suspensions.

This may sound off base, but with LevBell, Heyward, and Martavis I truly do think we beat the Pats soundly in NE. And the year prior we had the Broncos dead to rights.

The FO knows the opportunity is there, we just need to seize it.

Windows close very fast in the nfl. Ben's announcement was a wakeup call and the coaches and front office are responding. We have to win now. And now, Ben has no more excuses.

I think its obvious his career is winding down. Hopefully the FO was aware of that and didn't need Ben to say it to cause the action.

Love this video. Just watched it again for probably the 100th time. It still gives me chills. It should be required viewing for all Steelers fans the week before the first game of the season, every year. It's just too bad that the quality sucks, but I guess were watching ancient 2009 technology.

I vaguely recall an article years back, perhaps when Haley took over, saying one goal was to remove exactly that pressure from Ben.

    There you go.

We don't have the dead money like we used to, that certainly helps to go out and get players

They better pick a first round qb next year to groom with the team while all the surrounding talent and support is still here.. Yes, seize the moment for the superbowll!!

I do like Lamar Jackson from Louisville. For a mobile running threat, He is also an accurate passer.

Not arguing, just a thought. You list running before passing. For a QB, don't you prioritize it the other way around?

Yes absolutely. I thought Jackson was a one trick pony but after watching him against purdue last night I was impressed with his passing. He did a nice job running through the passing tree and very good accuracy. When he was out of the pocket, he made some really nice throws. Reminded me of Big Ben only Jackson is much more mobile and a big threat to run. The rest of the O made a lot of mistakes but Lamar Jackson looked like the real deal.

Didn't Ben throw a game winning TD to AB to beat the Ravens last season .

Yes and I'm 100% behind Ben all the way, but that particular play was ALL AB.

He gets tackled and time probably expires.
