Ben is a great QB and most likely a HOFer. Doubt many would argue that.
This whole Elite thing that keeps coming up is just another excuse for people to bash him and not give him his due.

We need Mr. Miagi to do that hand clapping, rubbing thing and work on Ben's knee, Bell's knee, Pouncey, and Beachum.

Did you post this just to get a rise? Dumbest post of the year.

Yup, exactly. He needed to get back ASAP and get back in the groove. Although I wasn't expecting it, it's understandable why he played off, and having him play was necessary for the final half of the season.

    He's elite.

Yeah. If only Ben had used the crane kick I think we could have went all the way....

That's why he posts everything. There's such a thing as stupid. Then there is such a thing as INTERNET stupid. This might even surpass THAT.

Ben is a franchise QB. He had a bad game, which isn't surprising missing a month. He has won us many more games than he has cost us.

I am one of Ben's biggest detractors and even I agree that he is elite.

Ben does not play with confidence when he is hurt and goes back to what is comfortable- waiting for receivers to be wide open. It compounds his flaws.

That being said the gameplan was to have your injured QB throw it 45 times? Really? Bell ran more in just over a quarter of play than Williams did the rest of the game. Maybe the plan was to establish the run but Tomlin doesn't trust Deangelo despite Deangelo's obvious ability? I don't know.

What I do know is Roethlisberger now 10-28 for his career when throwing 40+ times. Maybe having an injured Ben throwing that much was a bad idea?

Reminds me of the SF game in 2011. Ben threw 44 times and put up 3 points. He was hobbling around and I think hit his hand off a helmet in the game.

Anyways, Ben did play poorly but Tomlin and Haley deserve some responsibility for their gameplan.

Only QBs I would put ahead of Ben are Rodgers and Brady. Peyton is old and has 9 one and dones in the playoffs (almost all at home): Eli is erratic; Rivers has never gotten it done even when he had LT, Gates and a decent defense; Ryan chokes in the playoffs and to bad teams but puts up big numbers in a dome with amazing WRs; Luck has been terrible this year; Romo is Romo; Wilson is a great game manager with clutch ability who is failing now that he is being asked to play outside his strengths rather than within the team... sound familiar?

Ben is the #3 QB in the NFL.

Would also like to point out that the Steelers should run MORE with Deangelo since he isn't half the receiver Bell is (as goes for every other RB in the NFL).

And that's exactly right, and for that reason we will finish this season at best, 8-8...........

The second half of the season will be harder: playing at Seattle, at Cinci, at Baltimore and have to play the Broncos. Not to mention playing the Raiders next week who have beaten the Steelers the last 3 meetings I think.

This was a huge game: playing for a wild card now. To get a tiebreaker to win the division the Steelers would have to make up 5 games since Cinci has the better conference record unless they lose all their div games.

Dang...that 10-28 record may have answered the question, even though I'm not sure the made up definition of elite. Anyhow, if they need to put the game on Ben's shoulders and have him throw 40+ time, 75% of the time they lose...yikes!!

That was Tomlins greatest mistake, he should have let Ben crane kick a FG, would have been good from 75 yards.

Right?? Clearly I was watching something different. He was great the first drive. He took a hit and was probably sore after that - therefore not playing as well. To even suggest that Dalton looked like Montana is laughable. Our D was ON yesterday and they harassed Dalton all day long.

The raiders have won two in a row and look pretty good right now and they have already done something we couldnt do, they beat the rats, they easily handled the jets yesterday and their head coach Dellrio has this team headed in the right direction, and Carr is lighting up the scoreboard, so this game sunday isn't going to be a walk in the park, look, at best we are a 500 team the rest of the way and we might as well live with the facts....

Anyone watching the game last night saw how 'unelite' Rodgers can look. Now, credit Denver's D this season, but he's looked more like that Rodgers than the MVP version his last three games.

The elite guys are human; so is Ben. Stick him in a game four weeks removed from an injury that takes the majority six weeks to fully heal against a solid defense with a poor offensive gamelplan and you're quite likely to get the result we witnessed yesterday.

I think most will agree Rodgers is elite, he threw for 77 yards yesterday. Yes, 77 yards, for the whole game. Great QB's have bad games.

Well Diamond there is a problem with this kind of thinking. If the Raiders are a formidable opponent we have more chance of winning then losing. If they sucked would would absolutely lose to them lol

I'm not one to debate the definition of elite but it would be hard to ignore the facts of 40,000 yards, multiple SB appearances, and the only QB to ever have back-to-back 6TD games and not at least have that term thrown around.
