I am very perplexed, why are you so convinced he has had so many mediocre years. I've said before, that the only QBs w/a higher QB efficiency than Ben are the big 4, Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, and Brees, along w/Rivers and Romo, but Romo and Rivers have done little to squat in the playoffs. Also how can you say Ben has been mediocre in the playoffs. Granted the Denver loss was mediocre. The SB loss to GB was so-so, though it took literally a perfect day from Rodgers to beat him, and then of course he had a stinker in the SB 40....though he still made some big plays in that game. His other playoff games he has been either good or downright outstanding.

I actually voted Ben as not elite as of NOW, I actually think there are only 4 elite QBs...I think Luck will probably be elite, but he has to win some playoff games to become elite in my eyes. To me the mark of an elite QB is being consistently great...give Ben a check there over his career...his numbers prove it...obviously not so much this year, and though Ben has been turnover prone over his last 9-10 games he isn't getting much help from his O Line. Another criteria I look at is clutch-ness - something Ben used to have in spades, not so much lately. Final criteria is do you win...including the playoffs, maybe not a SB, but that you are a winner. I think Ben gets a big check mark there, of course not so much lately.

I do not, for one, think that the problem was that the band was down. I think that the problem "may' have been, that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being "crushed" by a 'dwarf". Alright? That tended to understate the hugeness of the object.

I think he's automatic. MAYBE and JUST MAYBE he MIGHT not get in on the 1st ballot as sort of a punishment for the off the field stuff sorta like they did Michael Irvin. But I think he's definitely going to the HOF and the only reason I can see him not getting in on the first ballot is for the reason I just said. You think what I said could be plausible?

I think he'll make it too. But wouldn't it be better if he ended his career on a high note so that there can be NO DOUBT that he belongs? Right now he's on the fence somewhat. He needs to elevate his game and do what the truly elite quarterbacks do, get those around him to elevate their games as well.

I've heard that when they go in to vote the question they ask is "Can you tell the history of football without mentioning this guy's name?" and if the answer is no then you vote for him to go to the HOF. If you think of 3 Super Bowls, just as of right now, you would have to think of Ben. So I say that he makes it. He also at one point had one of the highest winning percentages in playoff history. The ONLY reason he didn't have it totally is because we've had first round byes a few times. He took the franchise records of Terry Bradshaw who is also in the Hall. His win percentage is off the charts for his career. I just don't see how the voters could argue with those stats and the rings.

I think he probably will get in too, but that's not really my point. I just don't think he can take us back to the SB. I just don't think he's good enough. Sure, if we have a top 5 defence, then perhaps he can, but without it I just don't see it happening. Over the last 3 years when we've needed a big play from him to win a game, he hasn't been able to do it. We're not talking 3 weeks here, we're talking the majority of 3 years.

    Bump.......

The poll is still open so its being bumped to give everyone a chance to vote and voice their opinion.

I find it very interesting its 29 to 29 completed divided in half.

Ben is a Great QB but it seems we are divided on whether he's Elite.

He's up among the top in comeback wins and I think the 3 SB's makes him a lock, and if he gets one more SB win, forget it, discussion is over.

I'd have to agree with that. Those guys are on a different tier than the rest of the QB's in the league.

I think a lot of what teams did with those guys makes a difference. they built the teams around those qb's. then they got just enough defense to maintain teams while these guys out scored the others. they made these guys and the offense the focus and built the system to fit them.

in Pittsburgh we haven't done that to they're extent. we have always built a strong defense first. we haven't put all our eggs in ben's basket. that's the difference in them being elite.

ben is a gamer and a winner. he uses a different method then being so cerebral. we have put players around him but not near the extent those teams built their offenses around those players. there are different ways to win in the nfl.

Wasn't it just 2 years ago that most of this site was claiming we had the best receiving group in the entire NFL? If that isn't putting players around Ben, I don't know what is

they had the potential to be. none of which were high draft picks, we found some luck on day two and three. big difference in making the offense the focal point of the team, and getting lucky with a couple of wr's.

Miami has built the offence around Tannehill. Cleveland built the offence around Weeden. Every team in the league builds their offence around their QB, including Pittsburgh. Brady isn't an elite QB only because he's had the offence built around him. Besides, this year he's had no talent around him yet he's still winning.

Ben is tough and great. Rogers is tough and great.

Put the other three puzzzzies (Brady,Brees, manning) behind Bens line and their careers would be over.

Are you saying Brady has no talent around him? Have you actually watched any of the Patriots games? Brady was being boo'd last game at home until his final drive. Their running game has been pretty decent and their o-line has been solid. They have a lot of depth and great coaches unlike the steelers who has no orchestrated idea on what offensive game plan they want...
