It was rumored that Ohio State wanted Ben to come play TE since he had the size and had played some receiver in high school. Ben stuck to his guns and opted to go to Miami of Ohio to play quarterback and the rest is history.

Conversely, Heath Miller, who was a state championship winning QB in high school, decided to go to UVA and make the transition to TE, which turned out to be a very successful transition.

In an alternate universe, Ben decided to go to Ohio State to play TE and Heath opted to go play QB at a MAC school. The Steelers draft Ben as a TE and Heath as their QB and had a great QB/TE combo for over a decade, just in reverse of what we had the privilege of witnessing here in this universe. Mind blown!

    Decisions have consequences, folks.

Something tells me that what we saw was the best possible outcome that was possible for our reality. They both did what they do best and we were lucky enough to see them live it.

    Manifest Destiny.

Ben played WR up until his senior year because the head coach played his kid at QB instead of Ben. It's a good thing that the coach's kid graduated a year earlier than Ben or he would have never had a chance to play QB.
