All of that is just fine and dandy. It's still not analytics and would totally fit into one thread.

I think you jit it pretty well, it 's obvious that you can't have all pros...let alone pro bowl players at every position, but the thing that makes me scratch my head is the amount of CAP our D gets and the lack of total productivity. We have to get younger AND develop players better. The scheme may indeed be an issue as well, but we underachieve and have to many no show games for this amount of CAP space.

Top 9 in total points allowed and total yards allowed. Read the OP.

And number one in cap space committed to the Defense and how did that top 9 ranking work the last five games of the season and especially in the playoffs as far as wins and losses? Just sticking to analytics and facts not opinions.

Great end of year stats, but what I recall is getting wiped out at the end of the season, repeatedly and then once again in yet another PO loss. Results matter, and we are not seeing the results that matter when it counts.

Against the 2SB participants and twice vs the Ravens our whole team got handled.
But they must have been spectacular the other games to keep a top 9 ranking after those butt whoopings.

In the previous games they faced 2 PO teams. went into those butt whippings with a winning record and could have won the division, yet did not.

I'm so tired of the stats and ghosting. Maybe they will put it together and be Top 10 competitive throughout the year and PO's, that's the marking of a good team, competitive. We were far from it after week 12.

Kinda just shows the very large gap between the top tier teams and the also-rans in the rest of the league.

But, Todd Haley says, "they're close, very close"....[referring to the Steelers]

But the point keeps getting repeated in a hundred different threads all titled to be about something else. It's like the Yahoo sports page. I think my point of valid as well. We all know certain fans have a big dislike for MT. I don't think we need a new and different thread or two daily talking about exactly that.

I'm not trying to police or tell others what to do, nor do, or think. But c'mon with the thread count on the same complaint. That's my opinion.

Here's an interesting analytic. Offenses score TDs less often when they start at their own 40 or closer going in, than when the offense starts at their own 35 or further away. Starting with better field position seems to have a limit.

i do believe the defense break down by the end of the year could be a direct cause of a few good players making all the money and wearing down during the year. we have a lack of quality depth behind them because of money and other reasons but money the main one. quality depth to rest the starters is crucial. the ILB'ers and OLB'ers are close to having good depth. the DB's are looking a little better now and DL is also getting a little better with our new additions.

injuries of course come into play. playing your big money guys before they are really healed does not help. we see this every year it seems. ben used to play before healthy. it seemed to never work out well. seumalo last year. TJ. cam. just being on the field doesn't instill fear in the other teams. the depth we have is not quality enough to carry these stretches.

i do think we have addressed this some. interior OL i like the additions. corner additions have helped. DL additions have helped. also beefed up the ILB quality too. tackle, we shall see. QB and RB is a no so far. WR is a no so far. TE, is a yes.

I think we need some analytics on the percentage of threads about offense that derail into Tomlin threads vs. the percentage of threads about defense that derail into Tomlin threads. That may get us some answers.

I would guess it is equal since pretty much every thread other than “what’s cooking” turns into a Tomlin thread

Some people are incapable of an intelligent original thought but they want to post something

What's Tomlin Cookin over the fire immediately.

it won't matter he'll burn it and nobody will eat it during the playoffs.

there we go now it's come full circle. :smiley1::cool:

Yes that is a fair assessment. I did go overboard with different points all coming back to the same conclusion. The funny thing is I used to be a Tomlin apologist. Then the Matt Canada debacle. Then the way Kenny Pickett was handled then I just really started to look into things and the icing on the cake for me was the fact we have the highest paid defense in the league and we still woefully underperformed when it mattered most. Add on the fact we are doing the same thing with our DC and Oline coach that we did with Canada. I had thought Tomlin could be that coach to build a foundational sound team who could be good but just needed that franchise qb to get him over the hump but the lack of defensive success towards the end of each year and in big games and the fact we just can’t seem to get good coordinators nor does it seem like we try has soured my opinion on Tomlin. I was really hoping Rooney would strep up this year and save Tomlin from himself and push him to get better coaches on the team but its apparent that has not happened.

The moderators need to add about 10 more stickys. 1. The official fire Mike Tomlin thread. 2. The official overrated defense thread. 3. The official next franchise QB thread. 4. The official Art Rooney II thread. 5. The official @jeh1856@jeh1856 hall monitoring thread. 6. The official troll thread, oh wait, that would be under #5. 7. The official ignore other posters thread. (Would this be a blank page)? 8. The official Mike Tomlin coaching tree thread, oh wait, another blank page. 9. The official bashing of officials thread. 10. The official we are doomed thread.

Yeah I’m not buying what your selling. Its the very issue I have with the defensive scheme. Our defense relays to heavily on pedigree and players making plays. I know that sounds ridiculous but why not put guys in position to succeed instead of asking them to be superman. This is especially true for the ILB’s. That play loss to Baltimore was more about our defensive game plan than it was about us being worn down. We totally focused on Lamar Jackson at the expense of letting Henry run rampant. I would just really like us to get a Kenneth Grant to occupy blockers and eat up space and push the pocket back. It helps the ILB’s and it helps the Edge players. Instead were looking at guys like Shemar Stewart who is a tweener. It just feels like were broken right now and were not sure what or who we are. Watch the Ravens draft Kenneth Grant and they will know how to use him.

Exactly what I thought when I first started to read #6

I don’t think I’m a hall monitor but I definitely get satisfaction out of whacking trolls
