Conner and Dupree both sat out today and Edmunds was limited.

Doesn't sound like Conner will be ready by Sunday. He called himself day to day.

Heyward practiced fully, so that's very good news.

I think Dupree being out isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I was thinking the same thing. Would like to see Adeniyi get some more snaps.

imagine he comes out and gets 3 sacks and a forced fumble lol. Then he takes off his helmet and it's actually James harrison, SDOT immediately deletes his account and hates life lol

I think Ola Adeniyi obtaining more playing time is a necessity for this team. Given the defense's current circumstances, Tomlin cannot afford to waste another 1st pick on a pass rusher. A cornerback is needed.

If anything, moving forward, I would rather have the team give Olasunkanmi Adeniyi his official "audition" for 2019 than rather run the risk of resigning Dupree; drafting another bookend all together.

Conner should probably skip this game. We will need him for the playoffs and Samuels proved that he is capable of the necessary workload against the Saints. I'd like to see Dupree in though as he has been getting better lately.

The problem with Samuels is the same issue Conner had last year, he doesn't really know what he's doing in blitz pick-up. He whiffed badly in the Patriots' first sack Sunday. Samuels had a great game against a terrible run defense, but let's not fool ourselves here. The team would be much better off if Conner can play.

I do love how people fall in love very quickly with the shiny new toy.

The best version of the Steelers going forward has Conner starting, Samuels getting significant snaps off the bench and Ridley firmly planted on the bench. Sadly, we won't see that this week.

I think the best version of the Steelers in this game is keeping Samuels in the starting lineup and leaving our gimpy workhorse in the stall to heal his lame leg. They have the best run defense in the league, but they have been burned at times by pass-catching backs, which is where Samuels excels. I honestly think the Steelers will be wasting downs trying to run into the teeth of their defense. We'd be much better off using the short-passing game in its place and freeing Samuels up in space. Such a game plan comes with more risk, but the rewards will be much higher, too.

Nope, they have a very good run defense. Time to dink-and-dunk to set up some long passes.

Samuels is hard on their position.

Conner has also proven he can be a threat out of the backfield. The guy drops a couple of passes and the shiny new toy has one big game and suddenly everybody forgets that part.

What we're going to see without Conner is a lot of empty sets because the Steelers realize they can't trust Samuels in pass protection and they get pass-happy. Of course, that takes away play action and makes it easier for the Saints to figure out what's coming.

Of course, if Conner isn't ready, he should sit. That said, this idea that the Steelers are somehow better off sticking with Samuels is silly.

Looks like Conner does have a high ankle sprain.

I like Conner, and I like Samuels. Right now both have made me glad we signed them. What I really liked is the run plays we ran Sunday. I would like to see how Conner fairs with the same run scheme. Conner has done nothing to merit losing his starting position once he is healed up. Samuels has earned more carrys. Did I miss anything?

No. You just aren't getting overly infatuated with the shiny new toy.

Bottom line is... Steelers have done well without Bell. Our losing streak had more to do with INTs and poor play by the defense... not the running game or lack thereof.
