WOW, you know what jumped out at me in that story? Not the news about JH but where it says Mendy participated fully  guy is having a heck of a recovery :applaud:

Back to JH, man Peyton must be doing a jig, lucky bastard.

Well, even if he's not fully healed in his wrist, at least Worilds is practicing fully. That's crucial depth for OLB. Even if he's out of shape and weak, it's better to have him than to not have him. Helps special teams too.

And I wouldn't count old James out yet. If he can play at all, I'd activate him and send him out there for 10 or so big play scenarios. He's not just our best pass rusher, he's critical to our goal line defense as well.

While I love JH's aggression on the field and what he has done for the team in his career (especially 08-playoffs and that epic 100yd-int-return in the closing seconds of the 1st half of the SB), I fear that this year will probably be his last in Pittsburgh. Too much money tied up in his contract, too many injuries/issues lately :(

This is the first game that he will miss due to these injuries, and that's if he misses it. I don't count the broken eye bone thing, do you? Not exactly old age that did him in there. It was a helmet to the eye bone.

Depending on his health and performance this year, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see them extend him. Not everyone likes the "low mileage" argument, but it's true. Most guys his age are shadows of their former selves. He was a beast last year. Look at Keisel, who had low mileage as a backup his first 4 years. He just had his best season yet and is still a boss out there. If James plays awesome this year, we'd be fools to let him go. He's more than just sacks. With his talent and wide range of talents, he's arguably the most important player out there.

I think Harrison plays. He's just giving the knee rest. It's not like he doesn't know the plays on this defense.

Harrison has stated himself he's a guy that needs reps in practice to play like he can. Some players can jump into games without reps, it doesn't sound like Harrison is one of those guys. I doubt he plays.

I agree with you there snack! Yes the steelers have a history with letting the older guys go when it's their time, and when their play making is declining (i.e. Joey Porter, Jason Gildon, although Porter did have a nice season in Miami afterwards). Also the Steelers tend to let guys go when there are younger more capable guys waiting for their shot. I think Worilds is a good player and a very capable back up, and he's my 1st choice to fill in when Harrison is out. But I don't see him as a replacement for life after Harrison (At least not yet anyway). To me Harrison's play making is not declining and he still has a heck of a motor on him. We could all notice that Farrior had lost a step in his game, but I haven't seen any sign of that in Harrison when he is healthy. He's a force on the field, and besides Polamalu, he is the next guy to grab the attention of the offense when he is in there. Every QB knows he is coming, and coming hard. The orbital bone injury can be tossed out the window in my book because its a freak injury. Its not an everyday type of setback you would notice in an aging player. Harrison is a gym rat, and is ridiculous when it comes to training and conditioning. I've heard that this season he has said he is in the best physical shape of his career. If he has a productive season like usual, I see no reason why we wont keep him around, especially when he is such a beast on defense. I can't see Dick LeBeau letting him go when he still has some gas left in that tank of his. I surely wouldn't want to have to play against him.

Maybe for every snap. Everyone's better with practice. But I have full confidence in his ability to rush the passer with a small amount of practice time. He knows how to do that. Goal line situations too. No one has his freakish strength and athletic ability. He can use that. Even if he's not 100%, he can use that better than pretty much anyone else in the league. We saw that last year as he played great with a bad back.

I'll say this. If he doesn't play, it's because of his knee. It's not because his knee is fine and he didn't get the reps. If he can go, he'll go.

Carter will do fine. Im actually looking forward to seeing him. Plus, if he breathes on someone there wont be a penalty or fine.

Just as I suspected for the Denver game. There are possibly 3 more
players that are probably not ready to play also.

I like Carter for the start in this game. He has speed to get there and at least make Manning move, which puts him out of his comfort zone and can help force errant throws.
I too agree Harrison will play if he can regardless of practice rep count. They may be limiting him to every other day so as to not overdo it and cause inflammation. Rest days are still important to his recovery.

He just posted on Facebook that he didn't make practice and it's a game-time decision.

Yep, saw that a few minutes ago.

In reality, if he doesn't practice he doesn't play unless something bad happens to his replacements which is where game time decision comes in to play.

Looks like its gonna be Carter.......
