I voted OT but I’m slowly warming up to CB if we can get a special guy like Gonzalez but we’d probably need to trade up to get him. Not sure I’d put Porter, Jr. in that category though. He’s solid, but not spectacular.

And changed their plan at subpackages. Then Watt got injured. Bush didn’t return to form. Jack got banged up. Alualu wasn’t the same. Wormly knocked out for the season. Those are the most notable headlines.

The highest paid defense had a lot to contend with in their locker room.

Numbers and experience do not necessarily equate to quality. After Heyward there’s a big step down to Ogunjobi, an average starter, and then it really falls off to guys who have been no better than backup-caliber rotational guys in their careers to date. Maybe Leal can be starter-caliber this year, but he’s a long way from a sure thing.

And through all of that, our defense was #10 in points allowed. Not terrible.

Go OT(much more value than CB here) first , then CB at 32(their will be some good ones left) then WR in 2nd round. DO IT STEELERS .

    OT
    CB
    WR
    Here we Go !!!!!!!!!!!:drinks::rawk:

none of these draft picks are sure things either. cam heywards don't come along too often. those backups we added are on a better trajectory than an aged alualu and an underperforming loudermilk at this time. i'd throw in better than adams as well. leal to me is still more of a tweener. i'm not sure just how they will use him this year. maybe just as last year DE at times and more of an OLB at times in different packages. they seem to like package type defenses and i expect that to continue. i still like the thought of Mazi Smith.

when you say BPA, what if BPA according to Mel Kiper / whoever is a RB?

No - BPA has never been the best strategy

now - BPA ranked in area of biggest need, that is different.

but even that does not work - if they have a CB as next BPA, but there are 3 or 4 that are closely packed, then NO - take CB at 32 and another guy w our first.

Never a fan of BPA in its purist definition

With the release of Jamir Jones, we’re not just thin at OLB depth, we have no OLB depth. Hoping that Nolan Smith is available at 32. We can move him around like Micah Parson

You do have to equate that our offense wasn't a big threat most of the year. If other teams don't have to take chances....a lot of times they won't.

Would signing another player like Jamir Jones change your mind ?
I mean just because we cut him doesnt mean we need to spend the 32 pick on an OLB.
Their will be plenty of guys like him available.

I'm surprised at all the " OL,CB, other " and not DL!

Heyward doesn't have many seasons left... There's a huge dropoff after him, no younguns in the pipeline ( by that, I mean potentially elite players ) And...Our Run D has pretty much sucked for Years!

Gimme Jalen Carter, If they think he's NOT a Dips***

I’m not saying Jamir Jones is the answer. I’m saying we have no depth behind Watt and Highsmith. We saw what happens when Watt was out last year. It’s odd and somewhat disturbing that the FO hasn’t addressed this

There's still FA's available and a whole draft ahead of us. I'll start worrying if we go deep into the summer with nothing added.

Based on how the draft goes, if they don't have a shot at a quality OT/CB/DL then take whoever they feel is the best prospect at that point.

Just don't reach for a guy, like Edmunds, because we need the position but there aren't many options.

And im saying we will get depth after the draft or during the draft. You dont need to draft an OLB at 32 because Jones got cut. They probably will sign Dupree after the draft too.
There is also no good depth at WR.

    Prediction:

Steelers circle back to the probably the most obvious pick from the outset and get Joey Porter Jnr. I don't have a favoured pick at all, I just think he's just so much of a Steelers guy that's who end up with. Just an opinion.
