Good. Third round looks like the sweet spot for slot corner (Sanristal, Abrams-Draine, Melton) and there should be some good strong safeties available in the 4th. Still lets us go O-line/WR in the first two rounds.

biggest areas of need, it appears, in early rounds.

we will grab a starting S here soon, in FA. Have LOTS of $$ still. and will get a WR soon. Have Austin still , I know many / most have quit on him, I have not. He will be good. Lots of raw talent.

Hell no! I want him kicking off until he needs to be carried to the ice bath after the game.

I anxious to see how Smith uses Calvin Austin in his offense. He was given a few jet sweeps that were highly telegraphed but wasn't used the way he should have been last season.

I'm sure that the Steelers will put him through a center workout if they think he could play there. After that, I'll have to trust their judgement. He played there as a freshman, but hasn't played there in three years.

Some draft prospect evaluations have him ranked first among the centers and called it Barton’s natural position. If he has not played there in three years, this must be a pretty thin year for centers.

If its anything other than T, C, WR, and QB I'd be shocked. As for names:

    1. J.J McCarthy QB
    2. Mims T
    3. Thomas Jnr WR
    4. Powers-Johnson C
    5. J.C Latham T
    6. Keon Coleman WR
    7. Adonai Mitchell WR

The above 7 in that order

I would like to see us target Zach Frazier (Center-WVU) in the 1st. In no particular order, others on my wish list include:

    TVondre Sweat (DT-Texas)
    Jeremiah Trotter (ILB-Clemson)
    Cooper DeJean(CB-Iowa)
    Cam Smith (CB-Notre Dame)
    Matt Goncalves (OT-Pitt)
Any of these three WR's are fine by me:
    Adonai Mitchell (WR-Texas)
    Keon Coleman (WR-Florida State)
    Ladd McConkey (WR-Georgia)

    well....this AIN'T happening. (QB)

this is why you wait till FA is close to ending before posting your draft picks.

C seems clearly our #1 pick. Can't imagine it not being, unless we can move up in Rd 2, get a better player Rd. 1 and still get that top tier C in Rd. 2, then WR, Rd. 3.

    Need OL help for sure!

Jackson-Powers would be my pick at #20.

But they might go for Amarius Mims then grab a center in the 2nd with a possible move up maybe Frazier.

Hopefully they get a tackle and put Jones on the left side where he belongs but don't be surprised if Moore starts the season as the left tackle since he is not comfortable playing the right side

    Yes
I would be fine with either but feel that Frazier is a better fit. I originally thought he may be there in the 2nd but sounds as though his stock has risen. Or, maybe we can get additional picks and trade out of 20th and still get him.

As it currently stands, we need a starting center and a starting WR. Moore is serviceable as a T and has another year under contract. I expect that something else will be done before the draft, but I’m not sure that there are many (if any) quality centers available (other than a guy who may not be healthy for the start of the season) and only a few previously good WRs who now have question marks due to injury or age. Maybe Boyd can be a #2, but he doesn’t seem dynamic to me. I wouldn’t want to overpay for him.

We may be in a position of having to draft for need to fill starting spots at C and/or WR.

I’m thinking I’m the only catholic who can do math

Lent this year is Wed, Feb 14, 2024 – Thu, Mar 28, 2024 that is 44 days

I even asked my beer drinking buddy who is also a priest and when I pointed that out to him he just stared at me and said “I don’t know”

Carry it straight out to Easter, and then subtract the 7 Sundays. 40 days. Don't ask me why.
