    ...for 12 sacks this year.

He's been playing well but he keeps getting dumped on around here.

Seems to be a lot of that going around today. Plenty of threads to bring out your favorite whipping boy.

    Conner is no good
    Cam disapears
    Watt does nothing
Boz got paid nowith he sucks
    Berry can't punt
    Ben is over the hI'll
    Butler is an idiot
    Tomlin et al

A veritable cornucopia of usual suspects to choose from.

Bud has actually been decent. Watt has disappeared after week 1 along with Tuitt and Heyward. We have a lot of money tied up in Tuitt and Heyward and are getting very little production.

Bud does much better on the stunts with the DL and he comes up the middle.

Exactly what I was gonna say.... he's gotten a couple pressures, if not sacks from the edge (still seems to be getting pushed to the back of the pocket more often than not) but I've been noticing him coming more from the middle of late.

Actually, I should say he is playing better. Wouldn't say playing well yet but its progress. Moving him seems to have helped but now Watt is suffering.

They both seem to be getting man-handled on the edge.

That guy was straight up holding him the entire game. Watt couldn't hand fight him, the guy was locking both hands on his pads and wasn't letting go and I don't think he cared if he got caught or not.

Well let's see...they had to switch sides with Watt because Dupree wasn't getting it done there. Now basically he is free to roam wherever he wants to try and find a wide open lane to rush through. He has 3 sacks that all basically came from running free. He still can't rush the passer from OLB. He still can't hold the edge. He hardly makes any plays from the backside because he doesn't hustle to the ball and is scared to get dirty. At the end of the game he was basically watching as most of the other guys were still competing and that's more the norm than not for him.
If you want the look at just the sacks when trying to compare him with what Watt is doing then fine but I think if you focus on each guy you wouldn't make that mistake.... Are his sacks a indication he is playing better? I don't think so. When I watch him I see the same player with a lot less responsibilities and more opportunities.
Maybe it's just me but he still hasn't done anything to the point where I'm even considering bringing him back on a new contract.

    Guilty as charged....lol

Can you change the thread title to "The Curse of Bud Island"

Every time a shiny coin is found in the swamp, hope is again renewed. But season after season, the money pit is never uncovered.

I try not to constantly dump on the guy but I just don't think he creates any disruption on his own. And that is what you are looking for in a pass rusher. It's usually a free lane to the QB or the QB breaks the pocket and is chased down.

This same argument was debated for Ziggy Hood (on another forum, but maybe here as well). I don't believe Hood or Dupree are busts, but they are average starters in this league. And as fans you always want more from the first rounders. Is being average considered a bust for a first rounder? Each has their own opinion.

Let's not be swayed by fools gold and make him another " MoneyPit" on our defense....

What is Watt's excuse for not making any plays since game 1?

Put the players in the best position to succeed. If he’s getting sacks unblocked so be it

He is getting a sack here and there, but be still can't hold the edge. First two running plays for the Ravens they run right at him 1st play gains 12 yards, 2nd play they gain like 7 yards running right at him. That's our weakest side when teams want to run on us, because of Dupree and 25 on that same side.

You mean they still haven't found anything on Oak Island? Is that show still on?

Yeah but the sacks....all 3. They’ve done everything in their power to make Dupree a football player. Including accommodating a position change. Ok he had a INT thrown in his lap and he had as many sacks as Watt. Anyone who wants to compare them watch the rest of their game not just the box score.

Bud might be our best player on defense the last two games.

That statement sums up how bad this defense really is.

He could get 20 sacks this year and it still wouldn’t be good enough for some people.
