South Carolina has won six straight -- four against ranked opponents -- and earned a three-rung promotion to No. 13. Ole Miss remained No. 15 and was followed by Iowa State and BYU.

 

Bama climbed to #11 in the AP top 25 with 3 losses and 2 of the losses to unranked teams (vandy & OK). Blows my mind how much they love Bama. Crazy.

 

Exactly. We lost to Alabama by 2 at Alabama… yet bama gets blown off the field by Oklahoma , who SC beat handily along with Vandy.
How did we jump Ole Miss who beat SC 27-3? I am confused
Also, we just beat the #12 team while Alabama beat Auburn … Auburn isn’t even going to a bowl game!!!

 

Please do not confuse NFL with college ball. All NFL shares the same salary cap, and same draft. None of which implies to college fairness between teams.
I pointed out examples of teams that were winning.....until they actually played rank teams. If those teams being ranked didn't matter....then why did those other teams have a problem with them....unlike when they were playing unranked teams???

 

How about Alabama.
How about SMU that only played 2 top 25 teams, and got beat by one, and the other they actually beat .....the only time they played a top 25 team was SMU. I could keep on, and on.
Example: Arkansas is crap, but look at our record outside of playing top 25 teams. If we had some of these schedules like Boise St, or SMU had...We would have the same record.....,,but we don't, and we didn't. So teams that play one, or two ranked teams.....should not have the same ranking as teams that have. Hell they put Pitt into the top 25, and they played no ranked teams, and were undefeated.....until they actually played a ranked team, and look what happened.

 

The only reason is because preseason rankings are purely speculation. How did FSU end up after starting out as a top 5 team? Nobody had SMU in their 12 team playoff prediction. Yet here they are right in the mix with 1 game left.


All I would really like to see changed is stop with the preseason rankings. Rank the teams after 6 weeks of actual play. I'm fine with a3 loss team getting into the playoff if their resume warrants it.

 

We will find out at 7pm if the Cocks made the cut..odds are pretty slim.

College football definitely didn’t get it right with 12 team playoff… actually made it worse in my opinion.
All about the brand, always was and always will be.

 

A guy on the radio put it best...the playoff should be about merit only, not about helmet emblems.

 

There was talk on a radio show earlier (think it was Dan Patrick), this being the first year of the 12 team format and the glitches coming to light. Changes will likely come, perhaps an expansion to 14 with just 2 byes, if conference championship games are eliminated, perhaps expanding it a few more and having play in games. Issues will be how many games can be played, and who or what conferences/teams should be eliminated. When it was 2 you often had 2 or more teams that could claim they should have been in it, expanding to 4 left a team or 2 on the brink. We are seeing the same thing expanding to 12, it really should not be this hard, but money and ratings are really the bottom line. If it comes down to 3 teams to make the number 12 spot, a 'blue blood' might get the nod simply because of the name. I agree with, in a season where no one with 2 or 3 losses really has stood out, South Carolina has shown more on the field, but will the committee agree?
