If Moore is our #2 WR this year, it will be a disappointing season IMO.

Neither had Kenny Stills. Your point being?

This time last year, Le'Veon Bell had shown even less than Wheaton has. But he outperformed the rest of our RBs, and a lot of other RBs in the league. Young players with potential sometimes live up to that potential. If Wheaton lives up to his, he could definitely outperform Moore.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see them have similar seasons this year. I think year 3 might be the big one for Markus.

You're comparing a 2nd year player to rookies. Of course Stills and Bell had done nothing, they had never played in the NFL. Wheaton did play, although not much. He's got potential, but I like to see rookies at least flash here or there and I just didn't see it from him. He might live up to expectations, but I just don't think he's ready to make that big of a step yet.

What were we supposed to see? When he wasn't out with broken fingers, he was behind AB, Sanders, and Cotchery (10 TDs). Not to mention our backs and tight ends. All the reports are positive. We didn't see much of him, but he looks quick and fast. He's said to be a hard worker and good route runner. My point is that guys that have shown ZERO can outperform vets. This guy has a year in the league already, so he's more prepared, and he's stepping into a vacancy so he'll actually have a chance to show us what he's got.

he also missed OTA's because of graduation rules. not many players have a good year after missing those here. way behind at that point. throw in the broken fingers time lost and you end up with a rookie year like that. they all better be having they're best camp, because there is a lot of talent here that will pass them by.

I doubt it Wheaton has way more upside than Moore, Wheaton has the speed to get downfield. Wheaton had 3 veterans ahead of him on the depth chart also and then the injured fingers that's why he didn't show anything last season.

Wheaton may have more upside, just not this year.

How do you know? AB exploded in his second season. As a rookie, all he'd done was return some kickoffs and make one big catch (which he almost dropped!). Other than that, all we had to go on was good preseason play against non-NFL scrubs, and positive reports from practice. I'm not saying Wheaton will replicate that, but why shouldn't a guy with upside come through? Especially when he has health and opportunity - two things he didn't have as a rookie. It happens all the time.

I think Wheaton will be opposite AB in 2 WR sets, but Moore may end up being the #2 receiver in terms of targets. Like most teams, we'll be in 3+ WR packages a lot - maybe 50% or more of the time. So, for me whether Wheaton or Moore ends up as the "#2" receiver is a matter of definition. Just MHO.

That's kind of how I've been thinking of it, too. Frankly, I don't see the need to number our receivers. If we're on the opponent's 1 yard line, does Martavis Bryant become our #2 receiver? Maybe even #1.

Some of the media that have been to OTAs and mini camp have been saying Moore looks good, he will probably be a good third down option for Ben.
