Yes, I agree with the statement:
We've been playing better. Also, getting rid of Pouncey and Beachum will also create cap space (B is a Free Agent, I guess) and bring back a mid round (3rd-5th) pick.
Looking forward to repeat the lineup 2016, with additional cap space and a draft pick.

    Nope.

Now, money-wise, what's best for the team could be any weird mix of the 4. But in terms of putting the best product on the field, Wallace can't hold Pouncey's jock strap. Actually he probably could, and then he'd get flagged for 10 yards.

I agree with what some others have said, Beachum today is better than AV - but AV does have the upside, even at his age. If we're talking about the length of one contract, he might be the way to go.

But the original statement I disagree with. If we had a game to win, and I was picking from those guys, and all 4 were healthy, it would be Pouncey and Beachum on the field, no question.

I don't know about better, I just know that there hasn't been a fall off. this is the unit that has made me the happiest this year. I love line play anyway, but this group has been fun to watch.

Cody Wallace stays on the field, in the game, week after week.

    That is the difference.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. There are many differences between Wallace and Pouncey, but if I had to pick one to call "The" difference, it would be that Pouncey is much better than Wallace. That's "the" difference.

The only redeeming quality Wallace has is, like you alluded to, that he's not currently injured. But "week after week"? He's a backup! He doesn't get any iron man awards for staying healthy while riding the pine. Assuming he finishes this year, he'll have played in 22 out of a possible 48 regular season games with the Steelers. 46%. Before that he never started a game, in 5 years. Include those and he's down to 17%. Pouncey, assuming he doesn't play this year, will have started 62 of 96 regular season games, 65%. Obviously you want that number to be higher, and if not for those major injuries he'd be up to 94 of 96. Those injuries were brutal, and not at all his fault. I'd like to see Wallace take a hit to the knee like Pouncey did and not get hurt. And Pouncey has shown he can recover fully, as he did after missing 2013.

Again, contract stuff is a different conversation, but "Wallace can stay on the field and Pouncey can't" is a gross mischaracterization, to put it kindly.

Pouncey blocks upfield like a beast and that's why I would take him over Wallace any day. I do like having Wallace for depth and experience though.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing some old black and white footage of Pouncey blocking upfield.

I like the idea of moving Pouncey to LG, PWP. His play has been better lately, but I still think they need to upgrade Foster.

I disagree, look at what LeVeon did last season with Pouncey and Beachum starting.

Mike Munchak has made the Steelers OL what it is. He knows what he is doing
    with very marginal talent.

You wouldn't have understood him anyway. In fact, the F word was the only word I understood in his entire statement.

You're right. Cody Wallace is a modern day Goliath who could withstand ten linemen barreling into his knees from behind. Jesus, Pouncey isn't LaMarr Woodley, with never-ending hamstring pulls. He's had two injuries that cost him time, both brutal and unfortunate. If you can't agree that's just bad luck, we don't have anything to talk about.

Pouncey is really good player, but I question paying him big $ at a position that doesn't hold the critical value it once did. Pouncey is awesome in run blocking, but it is more of a passing league so having a center help with the run doesn't hold the same value. So as others said I would rather have his money pushed more towards a more critical role like cornerback. With that said we now have him and when he is on the field he is a good to great player so our resident proctologist will be in the backup role again next year.

Big Al is another story. I agree with others that considering the money that is going to be needed for guys like Bell & DeCastro, why pay Beachum money when Big Al is doing okay and his upside is huge. I like Beachum a lot...the guy is smart and he has turned himself into an upper third tackle in the league, but I can't see the Steelers paying him top dollar and he is going to get some interest on the open market. And he is not going to accept guard money knowing he can make it as a LT in the NFL.

The thing about corner though is that we still have to find out what Golson can do. For all we know we actually do have a good player in place for that position. If Cockrell keeps developing it's possible we could have a tandem there. We know Cockrell has some ball skills and if he can develop as a cover corner we will have gotten him at a bargain as well.

I really think they look at Golson as a slot guy, BFT (I could be wrong about that).

If Golson is the future in the slot, they can move Gay outside. But if that move happens how much longer will Gay play? Gotta find his eventual replacement.

I think you're right about Cockrell, I like him too, but even if he pans out I think they still need to get another starter-caliber outside corner. Whether it's high in the draft or in free agency I think they have to address it.

And in the spirit of the Christmas season I'd also like a playmaking, hard hitting, ball hawking safety... and an Xbox... and a pony

I'm totally on board with you about the safety too. Shamarko has obviously not panned out and I don't think he ever will. He was really just wishful thinking anyway. Did Golson play the slot in college? I thought he was an outside guy there. At least he looked to be from the highlights I seen of him. What's even more annoying is the fact that Grant turned out to not pan out. It's amazing that we've got a history of great lb play, center play, rb play, wr play, but for the life of us we just can't seem to pump out corners like we do other positions.

I heard Munchak is even questioning Pouncey's ability
    but hey
    it's just rumors
we do not have to look and see
that the man is not playing because that makes him better
    and
    IF
    IF
IF Pouncey makes it through this off season (after #7 Lombardi) with out some stupid ass incident hanging with his homeys
    MAYBE
    MAYBE
    JUST MAYBE
he can show us what he has left in his broken down self

I think there's still hope for Grant. I mean sometimes it takes some guys longer for the light to go on. Keenan Lewis didn't look like he'd ever amount to anything until his third camp. Of course I still think there's a chance that Cortez Allen could be a player if healthy so what the heck do I know?
