    I believe he'll get a cap-friendly extension, but you're right, it could go either way.

    ike has already mentioned he understands cuts in pay may be needed on his salary next year. I hope troy does too.

    ike will work with the team and he's not going anywhere, while he can still play at a high level and he can. ike works hard on his body, and may have lost a step, but him losing a step compared to other guys is still faster then most.

    I do expect we will see a corner drafted though, but not to start right away. kyle fuller would be nice.:beg:

    :cool:

    Unless they raise the cap by a large margin, next year will be another purge year. Lets see,
    Ike, Troy, Kiesel,Clark, Heath am I missing any? Art II here, we would like to keep you guys for another year. but we will need to cut your salary in half for us to be competitive. You could always call Silverback and see if we are bluffing. And the big elephant in the room is looming wanting his 25 mill/per @ age 32 body breaking down.Yea make a call to Silverback or maybe Franco.
    Omar, Omar where are you, what have you done to us?

    Unfortunately your post is likely all too accurate when it comes to 50% of Ike, Troy, and Heath salarys. I'll defer to the salary cap experts here, but I'm guessing that should free up around $10mil or so, which is likely near what will needed to be cut for starters.

    Clark is gone. Troy I think stays as long as he doesn't get hurt. Keisel I think he would take a pay cut to stay with the team, but if not then maybe gone...not sure what Heath's cap situation is like, but I would think they would want to keep him around for a couple more years.

    I know Moeaki has an injury issue but when the guy is healthy he is great. Trust me I watched the dude for 4 years and will vouch for him when he is healthy. He is a Heath type player when his body is right. I'll vouch for him just not his health!

    It will be interesting to see what we end up doing at running back as well, since Bell is the only one on the active roster that will be under contract in 2014.

    How much in total cuts do you guys think we will end up needing ... $12mil, $15mil, or more??

    Good point. Dwyer will perhaps be offered a very low salary, knowing that nobody picked him up last time he was released. I could see Jones sticking around, but doubt they'd offer him much. Bell is the only one of that group to show a real 'click' with the o-line so far.

    Foote was just signed to a two year contract earlier this year. He was a free agent and they had their chance to part ways with him. He's not making that much, I just don't see him getting cut unless they think Spence is ready and then I still don't see it happening.

    I just hope they can scrape enough money together to sign Velasco. We certainly don't need a repeat of O-Line problems again next year too.

    Clark is for sure gone. Sanders is for sure gone. I'd say Keisel too but Hood just hasn't shown he is any better than the 35 yr old Keisel. So Keisel stays at lower salary and Hood goes down as yet anohter wasted high draft pick by the anti-genius Colbert. Ike if he takes the hard line and wants full pay is gone. They'll keep foote. They have to ask Woodley or Timmons ot restructure.

    If they are going to pay big money to a sub par Ike, why not go after a top free agent like Aqib Talib, he is FA next year, and here is the 1 year contract he signed with the patsies this year:

    [TABLE="width: 100%"]
    [TR]
    [TD="align: left"]
    3/16/2013: Signed a one-year, $4.975 million contract. The deal contains $4.575 million guaranteed -- a $3 million signing bonus and Talib's base salary. Another $500,000 is available through a Pro Bowl incentive. 2013: $1.575 million (+ $50,000 workout bonus + $350,000 in per-game roster bonuses), 2014: Free Agent

    I agree they should at least ask, but won't Woodley & Timmons probably have them over a barrel with a lot of "dead money"?

    the foster and foote contract were multiple years but cap friendly if cut after year one
    if we sign velasco ( a must) we will move pouncey at guard and foster or take a pay cut or is gone , if v.williams show something foote is gone too

    Right, Foote's was a 3 year contract like most are, but the length doesn't matter...it's the guarantees that matter, and his contract is set up so the team isn't married to him.
