Our defense played very well for the first 26 minutes, after that, not so much. Three long scoring drives and 16 points in the final 34 minutes of the game. Having said that, our offense sucked for the whole game. There's room for improvement on both sides of the ball IMO.

Our guys were sucking wind by that point, can't keep them on the field all game like that. Plus, 9 of those points were from FG's, only 1 TD. There's always room for improvement, generating turnovers is certainly one area, but I can't fault the defense at all for Sundays loss.

100% corect... the O scores basically no points.. we are given a 2 point safety and a garbage TD in the last 90 seconds.. the D holds them to 16 points with the O giving up 2 fumbles and an INT and people are still ragging on the D thats been top rated forever.. people what DL gone..when hes the only decent coach we have including tomlin... makes no sense to me either..

More like 13 points, when the opposing offense starts on the Steeler 19 yard line and the D holds them to a field goal, it is hard to say they gave that up. That was a success on D. But I'll cede the other 13 points.

The offense certainly contributed more to the loss..
My point is when you give up 3rd down after 3rd down and scoring plays of 12, 11 and 11 play drives the defense contributed to their own demise IMO. At the end of the half neither team had moved the ball and time of possession was actually in our favor (if I'm not mistaken) when the Titans got the ball at our 49.. Twelve plays later including 11 runs they were in our endzone with little time left in the half. We also pinned them at their 12 yard line and promptly gave up an 11 play drive of 6+ minutes that included a few 3rd down conversions. Statistically we played good defense, situational football left a lot to be desired IMO. Like I said though, the offense was the overwhelming factor why we took the loss. Just one man's opinion.

The NFL is designed for teams to run up and down the field all day long. Other teams gave up points and yards in bunches. Heck, the Ravens gave up SEVEN touchdown passes. There isn't a defense in the league that's not going to give up drives at some point during a game unless the offense they're playing plays like ours did.

We're talking about the Titans.. Like I said it's my opinion, if you think the "D" was up to snuff so be it.

They have a strong offensive line, they spent a ton of money in the offseason, the defense limits the opposition scoring every year but still gets more flack than the offense.

I totally disagree with this. To some on this board the defense can do no wrong. I have said repeatedly that the offense is to blame for that loss sunday but I won't turn a blind eye to the fact that the defense had shortcomings of their own. If we play defense like we did against the Titans on sunday, monday night we'll give up 28+ to the Bengals IMO..

In all fairness, Baltimore might not have given up SEVEN touchdowns if this didn't happen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kHmIxYJK2w

Your absolutely right. Our corners play 10 to 12 yards off the ball on third and 5.

This defense has weaknesses - they all do in the salary cap era. Ours needs to start getting turnovers and sacks. If our offense plays against the Bengals the way they did against the Titans 25 of those 28 points will be redundant.

There are many more offenses that I'd take over ours than there are defenses that I'd rather have than ours. Especially when many of our defensive issues arise from the offense's failure to capitalize on chances in the red zone or close out an opponent late in the game.

Against one of the most incompetent offenses in the league, we cant brag about this D holding them to 16 points? We have some really good offenses on our schedule, lets see them hold those offenses to 16 or less points, this game is hardly the one to base how good this defense is going to be this year?

In this league, if the offense continually goes 3 and out, no defense is good enough to win games. Rules favor the offense way too much. Our offense will need to score and give the D a rest for them to have a chance. The days of dominating defense that can routinely win games are over.

I agree with you. In no way am I blaming the loss on the D, but there is still room for improvement. They arent the next coming of Christ by any stretch of the imagination. Were they WAY better than the offense and on the field for an obscene amount of time? Yep. I still think they need more pressure on the QB and I would love to see better coverage by the secondary.
