If you could bring one Steeler great out of retirement, who would it be?

This should be a fun thread. Harrison coming out of retirement and playing at the level he's playing at is nothing short of remarkable. It's really like we are getting a unique privilege as Steeler fans to watch the last swan swong of a living Steeler legend. This guy made, arguably, the single greatest play in Super Bowl history and has had an amazing career with the Steelers, and here he is doing it again post-retirement!

That's gotten me to thinking a little about the Steeler greats of the past. Let's pretend for a minute that we could resurrect the career of just one of those Steeler greats. We could give him back the talent and ability that he had in his heyday for just one more magical season. Who would that player be for you? Wow! What a difficult choice that would be! I guess if I could only choose one guy it would have to be Jack Lambert but Joe Greene would be a close second. I'd just love to see the snarl one more time . The brawler who would never allow any of his teammates to be pushed around and who would not be intimidated by anybody. The guy who never backed down from confrontation or contract even though he was an undersized linebacker, even in those days.

But it would almost be impossible to pick one Steeler great, wouldn't it? At any rate, play along would you? If you could resurrect the career of one player for one more magical season, who would your pick be?

Mel Blount. I'd love to see him light up some of these divas that are play WR these days.

WITH a mullet or without? Because really that's a dealbreaker.

With the mullet! Like Sampson's long hair, that's where Greene's strength and power came from. :smiley1:

    :this!:

    This.

Would add a needed nastiness to the defense. Plus he is only one of two or three players from the 70s who could be competitive in todays game.

Also have to consider Peezy. Swagger, attitude, leadership, and nastiness all rolled into one.

I like him so much that I actually typed the words "that are play". I just get excited thinking about having a cb that can light dudes up and be a ball hawk. LOL.

As much as I'd love to see it, Blount would be a one man flag factory in the league today...

The first one who came to mind when I saw the thread title was Mel Blount. There are several I'd have a hard time choosing between, though.

First choice would be Cortez Allen ..........oh wait he's in the dog house not the old folks house.

Second choice - Neil O'Donnell just so we could all boo him and shame him back into retirement.

Third choice - Casey Hampton at age 25-30

Casey was actually my second choice if I could have had one but Jack laid out VERY stringent rules for this thread and I didn't want to risk his ire by naming two. But here you have FORCED me to do it and whatever happens as a consequence I blame you! LOL!
