100% this. I don't know why everyone automatically assumes big only correlates to jump balls. I'll do a back flip (then visit the ER) if we land Matthews.

your grouping everyone into thinking that and it's not true. I group a few of the top big guys as that. evans is one of them. there is a difference in a good receiver big or small. first he has to be a good receiver in most aspects of being a receiver and if that will translate against nfl talent, and then there are just big guys playing WR or TE that don't have all the necessary skills at least yet to make the jump and not be a 2-3 year project. cooks is every bit an AB type player.

after going back and watching a lot of games of these receivers, I'm really seeing some different skills from them. lee may very well be the best of the bunch after Watkins.

Matthews is good but still something missing about his toughness to fight for contested balls on a regular basis. I think with some better qb'ing and coaching, he could be very good, but there is something not right there. drive maybe. will. maybe playing last year not to get hurt. I can't put my finger on it. I liked him last year though when I thought he was coming out.

evans is a push off machine. he won't be able to get away with that in the NFL. he does it a lot.

Benjamin just doesn't have IT. though if not a 1 or 2 could be a good guy as a 3rd and RZ wr. maybe coaching is needed.

moncrief I think is as close to complete as any but he's got a little honing to do. he's by far the best downfield blocking wr of the bunch and makes a difference in the run game as a blocker. he's not a giant either but tough.

street keeps showing me more of a complete game too. if he had a little more muscle on him, he'd be hard to handle. he's smart about getting open and has good hands.

coleman is the tallest. he's tough, but again, I think could be a better #3 at this point.

    beckham is solid. toughness?

jeff Janis has some game. I really like the potential and skills this kid possesses. he may play a level down but he plays a level higher than the rest out there with him. could be the steal of the year.

Hoffman, 3rd or 4th guy on the field right now.

Bryant. the kid has some skills to be good and flashes them from time to time. just a little inconsistent right now and raw.

    if I'm looking for a #2 to play quickly, I'm :

    1,lee
    2.cooks ***
    3.moncrief*
    3.matthews*
    5.street*
    5.beckham
    7.janis*
    8.bryant*
    8.coleman* **
    10.evans*
    11.Hoffman*

    * over 6-0 ** tallest of the group. *** fastest of the group.

to each his own, but that's what I'm seeing in this group. the WR group is deeper than these guys too. even into the UDFA range there will be some decent receivers this year. as the top 11, this is my list for one reason or another.

Stafford throws the ball up for grabs even when Calvin Johnson is double covered so he is a jump ball specialist.Tall receivers have a better catch radius and can better fight for the ball unlike Sanders and Wallace when they were with the Steelers. If you don't think a tall receiver is a big deal who can use his height to his advantage, go back and look what Plaxico Burress did for the Giants in 2007, he dominated Green Bay in the NFC championship game and caught the game winning TD in the Super Bowl.

So he dominated one playoff game...and Santonio caught a game winning TD pass. How tall was he? I think you are missing the point many of us are trying to make. Nobody is saying that they wouldn't take a tall WR whose other abilities were also off the chart. Height is about 4th or 5th on the list of great WR qualities.
