If Steelers reach 8 losses should they tank the season for better draft picks?

    Currently 0-1-1

    @ TB L
    Ravens L
    Falcons L
    @ Bengals L
    BYE
    Browns W
    @ Ravens L
    Panthers L
    @ Jaguars L

At this point we would be 1-8-1 with 6 games left and eliminated from the playoffs.

Do we just play all the young players the rest of the season and tank to get a better pick? Or do we tank even earlier, perhaps if we start 0-4-1?

No. I don't think it is ever a good idea to do anything except try to win every game. The last thing we want is players who learn to be ok with losing. I want them scratching and clawing for wins until the very end.

They also always beat KC too. Take nothing for granted. That's what this team does and they blow it.

I wouldn't tank, but I would play some of the younger players. 7-8-1 just means a worse draft pick in the end. This franchise should not need moral victories. Get the young guys some experience and plan for next season.

Listen I can't explain it but I do this thread every year for whatever reason the Steelers just don't lose on Monday night. Sunday nights are getting close but on MNF they just show up. I think last year or the year before they got down early and then the other team imploded as the Steelers exploded and the won. You can go back to Cowher being 10-1 with like 9 wins in a row but there is just something about Monday Night Football. Maybe this is the year they lose maybe not but until it happens I'm still going to maintain they don''t lose on Monday Nights

Edit: I feel like that scene in Godfather 2 where he tells the landlord to ask around the neighborhood about him. I try to avoid making absolute statements, don't do much predicting, the pickem game or season records but this? This I say every year and don't waver. They don't lose on Monday Nights. When it happens perhaps I will fall over dead who knows

Maybe. Let's hopefully get a top 3 pick for bosa and then try draft a rb early.

Tank the season for essentially a "Mega Millions Lottery Ticket" that likely will not pan out?

    Absolutely not.

You don’t seriously think the Steelers would try to lose do you?
I can answer that for you. No way in hell they would do that.

No, seriously tank the whole freaking season. Heck do it for 2-3 seasons. At least that way the people that are perpetually whining will actually have something to whine about.

tanking would just set that loser mentality on this franchise. Who is to say the drafts will even be a success. Try to win no matter what.

Steelers aren't as bad as most are saying. But... 8-9 wins is the ceiling for this team. We have to hope Bengals tank and there's a log jam at Week 17 for AFC North between Ravens, Bengals and Steelers. Unfortunately, the Bengals may be for real this year.

Don't know if it was intentional or not, but you basically just said our front office would be better off throwing darts to make picks then what they're doing now.

    Hm?

I believe you might have misunderstood. When I said a "premium pick" is essentially a glorified lottery ticket, I mean that forfeiting the season should not be in the team's interest overall.

If an NFL coach tanks the season for a draft pick, that draft pick will be enjoyed by the new coach.
