some of you on this board want Tomlin gone after this season. Just for discussion sakes who would you bring in as a HC to turn things around?

Personally I want to see Tomlin finish his contract out before making a decision.

Who would you pick Gruden? Bring back Dungy? Please discuss

Neither Gruden nor Cowher are going to return to coaching. We can talk about wanting those two, but it's not realistic. I doubt Dungy returns to coaching either.

I don't see Tomlin going anywhere after this season, so it's too early to say who will be available. I think it's going to be at least a few years before Tomlin is canned, but I do think it's coming.

I like Gruden, I wouldn't mind him getting a chance if they did part ways with Tomlin any time soon.

Since we're speculating and dreaming here.

Imagine if Art II dump a whole pile of money at Bill Bellicheks feet and lured him away from Bob Kraft?? That day would be the most interesting day in the history of this msg board.

    :roflmao:

half of steeler nation would commit ritual suicide over that :D

i'd love to have Gruden (who i think even said he'd consider returning to coaching if the right opportunity arose).

other than that ... no idea really. jim harbaugh might have been interesting, but he's in SF now (yes, he's a punk but he'd be OUR punk :p)

Kirk Ferentz from Iowa. It'd be interesting to see him and Haley work together.

It doesn't matter though. Tomlin isn't going anywhere any time soon. 2 Superbowl appearances doesn't equate to knee jerk reactions.

I would cry tears of SWEET SWEET JOY!!! I love the guy and I think he can outcoach anybody in this league. But this is a silly question and Tomlin is safe.

Enough already the Steelers don't fire coaches it's not the coach fault some guys seem to be injury prone. Tomlin just signed a contract extension he's going nowhere, besides you can't make chicken salad out of chicken bleep this team isn't that good.

Maybe the Rooneys would give Todd Haley another shot at a head coaching gig.

I dont think anyone on this board wants Tomlin gone or is hopping he does not suceed, from all evidence over the past 5 years, Tomlins inaction and lack of accountability to the players and attention to detail seems to be of his own doing. Take Tomlin away from a press confrence microphone and you have an average coordinator. People are tired of the "talk" its long over due for time results. Your either part of the problem or part of the solution.

I've honestly thought that in my mind after all the talk on here of getting rid of Tomlin. But he's not going anywhere.

I laugh at Bungles fans here in Cincinnati at their ridiculous whining and knee jerk reactions to everything, and I'm starting to realize Steelers fans are no different, we're just usually winning.

    Lol, how true.

To be fair to the OP, though, this did strike me as a bit of what us Brits might call a "****s and giggles" thread.

I understand frustration @ losing but not sure why we're even surmising the what if on this one. Didn't Rooney just sign Tomlin to an additional 4 w/ an option to make it 5? H3ll, I think Rooney even commented to the effect that the tradition of long term coaches in Pitt would continue w/ Tomlin and they would like to keep him for a long time. Something like that. I'll have to dig it up.

My point is never mind talk of ridding Tomlin even after a losing season because he'll be here for the next half decade or so. I think, like it or not, Tomlin will be our coach for a long long time.

I know, let's get DNA from Lombardi, Walsh and Noll, mix them together and inject it (Fringe style) into Tomlin! Don't laugh, it's as silly as some of the other suggestions.

I was going to say the ghost of Vince Lombardi or the reanimated corpse of Tom Landry, but you basically beat me to the punch. :)
