I'm looking at these draft boards and, knowing how the Steelers "supposedly" draft for best player.

Who do you think, if they are sitting there at 25, the Steelers would "have" to take?

I'm betting Derrick Henry....if (A HUGE IF) he's still on the board at 25 I think they have to take him.

That's not going to happen, as I think if he makes it out of the top 15 someone moves up to get him.

    Vernon Butler, Noah Spence
Derrick isn't projected to go in the first, so he will probably be there at #25 no I don't want the Steelers to draft him.

Not to disrespect your opinion, but if the Steelers take a backup running back in the first round with all of these deficiencies on defense and a very good backup already (in a Superbowl contending year no less) I will swan dive into a rock quarry.

we give up all our picks and move up and get ramsey. MT dons the dreadlocks and we pick a qb with our 7th rd. supplemental pick.:cool:

Total speculation. Not saying I want him there, but that would be a move based on best athlete that is possible for them.

Hey That's a total hypothetical there. Just looking at his production and his combine numbers...he's a beast and could actually be more of a TE.

I will play along. Noah Spence. lets hope he has his head screwed on?
I like Mac's idea, trade all for Jaylen Ramsey. To think he maybe be a Raven OUCH.
Simply the best athlete in the draft. But we shall see. I really have no idea where the Steelers are leaning. S, CB, OLB, TE these are the positions the Steelers need to look at.Depending on who they purge, CB may not be in play. As Cowher use to say to Lloyd, rush the QB.

As nice as it would be to get Ramsey, Mac's thought of trading all of our picks to move up for him still wouldn't get it done without throwing in our 2017 1st as well. So, that's out. Henry - no. He's going to be a solid 2 down back, but I'm not sold on his all around game yet. I don't think the league is either, and he probably will be available at 25. Elliott is a more complete player, but I wouldn't take him either because I think RB needs to be off our board for rounds 1-4.

I have a long way to go before putting together my board, but Spence's tape is really good. Maybe irresistible at 25 if he checks all of the other boxes off the field.

If Hargreaves slips that's the guy.....but the chance of him sliding are slim to none. Another name I am wondering about is OT Decker, he may be there and the Steelers may not be able to pass him up. I hope he is and we trade back a few spots and gain a 4th and 5th.

Unrealistic: Vernon Hargreaves and/or Jared Goff

Realistic: Emmanuel Ogbah and/or Shaq Lawson?????

Hargreaves would be nice, but agree he doesn't drop. Disagree on QB. We're in a win-now window, and need our first rounder to contribute every week. We can get a good backup QB in free agency. In the 2018 draft I may have a different view on QBs.

Lawson would be nice. Ogbah.... I still need to see tape that doesn't frustrate me. He's clearly a great athlete, but I see an effort and/or concentration issue on tape. He disappears for huge stretches of games, and there's no reason why that I can see.

You'd have to think it will be a pass rusher or secondary player that we can't pass up.
Ogbah, Spence, Dodd, Lawson are some pass rushers who we could end up really liking. Safety isn't looking as enticing as it once did at 25. Thompson had a miserable showing at the combine (reports he was sick?) but I don't see a safety that I would love taking in the first. CB is an option though too. Apple ran well and we reportedly met with Alexander. I'm not as high on Fuller as some, but thats another name that could be considered. Henry is the only TE worth considering at 25 and I hope we pass.

I have a feeling we will really like Spence's game. The kid is a pure pass rusher and is a perfect fit schematically for us. Capable of rushing from the 34 OLB and the 43 DE spots and has the ability to drop and look good in space. We will see I guess.

I felt the same about our need for a QB right up until when Heeeeath announced his retirement. With his best buddy gone and mounting injuries, I can see Ben calling it quits before his contract is up. Call it a lock if he wins another ring. If a promising franchise QB were to fall to us I'd definitely consider pulling the trigger because there are no guarantees we'd see one again.

I know this won't be popular but Im reading that Jaylon Smith is being removed from some teams boards, he'll absolutely be there at 25. Given the lack of impact that our 1st rd picks make in year one, Id be real tempted to take this kid, he's an absolute stud. So he redshirts his first year while soaking up as much knowledge as he can and be ready for year two.

If the injury damage is like Spence though, have to pass. But I haven't read anything definitive on the extent of his injury.

Even if it is Spence bad and he's still there in the 7th, Id definitely grab him.

Yeah I read the same thing they were talking about it during the combine what a shame the kid may fall far.......

Nerve damage is the critical component. If no nerve damage, and I've seen conflicting reports, then yeah I'd still consider him in the 1st for sure. If nerve damage is present I'd bump him down a couple of rounds. 3rd would be the earliest I'm comfortable with. He's so good of a player that it's a risk a GM should be comfortable taking.

Vernon Butler or Sheldon Rankins would be very tough to pass up imo. I know many of you don't want a DL in the first but one of those guys teamed up with Heyward and Tuitt would be a very special group for a number of years.

There's no way they can do that. As bad as I feel for the kid, there's no science to draft picks, but you want someone that at least is healthy.

Spence was already on the team and was flashing at the NFL level before he was injured. It's so spotty who's going to adapt as it is without reaching for a guy that you know isn't going to step on a field for at least 2 years.

How would you feel about Myles Jack falling to 25? Would you take the chance? His injury (I believe, not sure) is less severe and they could take their time getting him healed since Timmons will still be here. Just a question....

Hmmm, that's a good one....rotator cuff is different story.

Another OLB though? I really think Chickillo can be that next diamond in the rough like Harrison. He needs to go work out with him and maintain that fire through this first off-season. Harrison was cut several times before he got his chance to shine.

I'd like one of those DE's to fall though. Those guys were worn out at the end of games and the year.

I think the better question is what to do with Jack if he fell to us. Safety? Or do we try to put 15 lbs on him and try to get him to 240. We would have very light and fast LBers is that were the case

I would take Jack or Smith (if no nerve damage) if they are there.

However, if one of the top CBs is there too, Im taking them.

Jack came to the combine at 245, so he's playing LB.

To me there are only two options,

Eli Apple or Willie Jackson. We need secondary help in the worst way. We need talent and not just "bodies" in the secondary.
