Not me . We been using it each and every week in practice i bet . We have also used it as the scout Team a couple of times this year at least . Plus it is very simple Football and these guys are pros they should be able to grasp a run heavy O in warm ups..

I don't trust Jones at all vs. Denver .. If he starts I predict at least 4 picks, at least by running you give your D a chance to win it for you..

Keep him in a little longer, but if he's not getting it done, you gotta go with Landry. He's a roll of the dice, but Ben without his arm is not even a roll of the dice, he's nothing. You can maybe count on that for one drive against a prevent defense when all you do is dump it to the RB, but you can't win a whole game like that, especially against a good defense.

Denver has a great run defense and will almost certainly dare Jones to beat them if he plays. Hell, even with Ben and the uncertainty of his shoulder, Denver will probably still stack the box.

If he shows signs of struggling, give Landry Jones a try.

Wow! Unbelievable. I was just about ready to post the following on another board for a change of pace since it now seems likely Ben is better than 50% to play and also at least he has his legs which he did not have in the Frisco game a few years ago that he should never have played in IMO. Anyway since it cannot happen some might find this amusing.

In some threads about the game it was mentioned a number of times the possibility that Ben was still on the fence. That now seems unlikely as questionable is 50% chance and with Ben that is enough.

However, the team still had to prepare for the worst case scenario to be safe. So they got Landry ready and Vick is still there too. Anyway someone posted that they would like Vick to get the nod.

This did not go over too well with some fans who inferred that they had already seen enough of Vick and for that matter Landry J. too. But the idea of some mobility at the QB position seemed interesting in this situation. It made me wonder if they considered bringing up Tyler Murphy QB/WR from the Practice Squad. He could be given a couple of designed QB running plays which would take some pressure off the TNT running duo and he is certainly capable of completing some quick passes to WR's.

This situation reminded me of something I read about years ago where the Baltimore Colts QB's were all injured and they had to use another position player, a RB to play QB. Sort of like the Steelers being forced to go with a Hines Ward or Cedric Wilson who played some QB in high school.

It actually was pretty successful and certainly an unusual story.

This of course cannot happen but it sure would have made watching this game interesting to see how things unfolded. [I really think they would run all over them , control the clock, blah blah etc. and maybe pull off a win.]

If that stuff worked, then we would see more coaches calling it in the NFL. We know that this team has been very productive on offense with a pocket passer who can extend plays. Suggesting that they should now pull a practice squad rookie WR who played some QB (not even in the NFL) to lead this offense in the playoffs against a strong Denver defense just doesn't make sense. Thank God us MB posters aren't coaches for this squad. You do realize that Murphy hasn't been on the field in a real NFL football game right? You can pull that stuff off in high school but defenses are too fast and coaches and players are too smart at this level for that to work.

Edit: I stand corrected, looks like he has played in 2 games this season and has 1 catch for 16 yds. My point still stands. Also, I don't understand your Shula reference.

Y'all see where Billick called Ben a drama queen? Someone tell him that Brown isn't playing this week.

There’s no one tougher than Ben Roethlisberger by far in the NFL, but he’s a drama queen. He’s gonna come out on that field. That arm’s gonna be limp. It’s going to look like he can’t even lift it. Then he’s going to crank off a 60-yard bomb to Martavis Bryant. Then he’ll carry it back into the huddle, holding it like it’s in a sling, and then he’ll crank off a 40-yarder to Antonio Brown.

He might be right but it is hard to take much of what Billick says about the steelers seriously. He is one of the biggest steelers haters out there. Cowher owned him.

"Also, I don't understand your Shula reference."

It referred to a situation where the Baltimore Colts with 3 games left in the season were without any QB's on the roster. They devised a game plan using a position player [RB] as the QB. They won 2 games with it but lost the final conference championship game on a controversial play.

This was the similar situation that PWP 's plan fit. Hypothetically, no QB's were available. Do you quit? No! The point was you don't give it up under any circumstances.

Frankly, I never paid much attention to Shula before at all but maybe that was one of the reasons why he holds the record for most wins by an NFL coach unless it has been broken since.

Read the link it is quite an interesting piece of NFL history.

Thanks for the background. However, completely different situation as we have 2 other QB's on the roster. What Shula did was make due with what he had available. He won a couple games, great. Could have had different outcomes and was a different era. This is not a practical solution for the steelers current situation. In high school? sure give it a shot.

We stay with him!!! There's no question.
Ben at 70% is still way better than Landry at 100%.

    Exactly.

We have Ben (possibly); Landry (drop off in talent, but has won some games, knows the offense inside out, very calm); and Vick (even more drop off in talent, has won some games, nobody really sure how). Then you have Tyler Murphy, sat on the PS.

It simply makes no sense. Other than to bring in Murphy for a play or two, but even then it didn't look all that great in preseason when they did, so unlikely it would change a game tomorrow.

Exactly ...Stacking the box versus a Pocket QB is a lot different than stacking it against a running QB...Thus meaning that might be the best element of surprise says the pop warner coach... Again only a BU plan if Ben can't go.. This plan just as great as Jones vs. the Broncos..

Exactly. Sometimes just pounding on a Team that is not expected to be pounded on is the best way to pound them..Go Pop Warner..
