The Jets looked sharp last night, but the Falcons defense is pretty poor. Worse than ours on different levels.

Defenses tend to look and play much better gettin gpressure, sacks, and turnovers when they play with a lead. That is just how things are in the league. When the other team has a lead and knows you are not a scoring threat, they are going to call plays that are lower risk, QBs are less likely to press and extend things and do not make risky plays. A team that is behind will press causing risk and turnovers and such. I really think that the biggest issue with the defense is they never get to play with a lead and never get to face a 1-dimensional team.

Yea - 8 turn overs and people blame the D. The final score was 20-14 and Timmons had a pick-6. So the D has to be to blame because they should have score 2 more TDs....SMH

Whats obvious from those stats is that 2 of them had bad games. My God if Ben had a game like that pitchforks would be out in full force. Only Dalton had a good game and he certainly didn't light us up either.

We lost the first 2 games because the offense couldn't generate more then 10 points, lost the 3rd game because of 5 turnovers and the 4th game because the defense gave up too many big plays.

obviously the offense sucked that game, but the defense hast done squat for 2 years now.

the way they rank defenses is lame. yards allowed should be about 5th on the list not 1st.

show me points given up, forced turnovers, sacks, time of possession, 3rd down against conversions than yards allowed.

the point is. the defense has sucked and so has the offense. thats why this team has 2 wins in its last 15 or so.

I agree with some of that but you're getting off track, this is about DL and how rookies struggle against him. You cited a game that a rookie won in which we coughed it up 8 times, if we hadn't done that, Weeden never would have won.

Also, while I agree that yards allowed shouldn't be the top measuring stick, I believe we probably rank pretty high in points allowed, not #1 but probably top 10. Which is my point when I stick up for the defense, they almost always keep us in it and give the offense a chance to win. I want to see them fix the lack of turnover problem too but this defense is much better then people give them credit for.

Clearly, losing the first 4 games has been a 'team' effort. It's hard to glean too many positive things -- even the people that have said the special teams has been a bright spot must have the comparative against something totally dreadful (guess we're not giving up as many TD's, but it seems like we lose field position on any given trade-off of 3 and outs -- plus, we still have penalties and I would guess without data in front of me a pretty low punting average).

After last night, I was shocked to see the Steelers looked like favorites in the Vegas odds against the Jets (it has since flipped, but the line is still very close). The Jets are playing like a team that, despite their flaws, believes they can win and carried a field excitement on the ROAD that I haven't seen in the Steelers all year. Of course, that could be because the only Steelers leads this year have been 2-0 against the Titans and 3-0 against the Bengals so there hasn't been much to be excited about. Hoping they can turn it around this week with the additional rest, etc., but I'm not sure you want to play this team at this time on their home field.....

That is so true but when you surround it with others you just picked up the bridges starts to crumble. But I hope not.

With our record so far there will be no easy games for this team.
