When was a coach fired after leading a team to a 13-4 record? You may not like his style but it works for him and the Rooneys.

Poor memory - in seasons below were several pitfalls

    1998 7-9 .438 3rd in AFC Central
    1999 6-10 .375 4th in AFC Central
    2003
    6-10 .375 3rd in AFC North

Whose fault he didn't have a QB?
By the way didn't he have Big Ben for three years?
HINT: Answer is yes he did.

With Ben 15-1, 11-5, 8-8 downward trend. Good thing he quit when he did.

The Chargers fired Schottenheimer after a 14-2 season. Then again, they ARE the Chargers!

Also, wasn't Cowher in the ear of the GM during the draft each year?

Bill "We are going to impose our will" Cowher? Which meant running off tackle 25 times for a 2 yard average? I loved Cowher; the fire and passion that he brought. But, there are things I like about Tomlin better than Bill, and vice versa. Besides, some of you can wish Tomlin gone all you want, but he ain't going nowhere, nor should he. Lots of other franchises would like to have our problems to ***** about. Oh, and save the "won a SB with Cowhers players" argument for the feeble minded. He still won one and lost another, just like Bill.

Cowher and Ben win 4 together. Tomlin with Stewart and the other QB garbage don't make the playoffs.

Those old Cowher teams would have done the same thing to this current team that the Jags did today.

Wasn't that because Schottenheimer was trying to hire his brother for an open coaching position and Spanos and the GM (name?) didn't like the move. Apparently Schottenheimer would not back off. So he was canned.

Son or brother, something like that. The GM was AJ whoseywhatsit. He never liked Marty anyway but, you don't fire a 14-2 coach!

I remember pretty clearly ... Cowher's teams didn't play down to competition on a consistent basis...

@LoneGranger@LoneGranger Come on man, that 8-8 season was right after Ben went head first into a car. He wasn't his old self until week 16. Poor argument.

I'm nowhere close to the biggest Cowher fan but he was a much better coach than Tomlin. With a decade of HOF level QB play, Bill sure as hell would've done better than the constant disappointments of Tomlin's teams.

Too bad there is no way to prove that. I rate the second worst playoff loss in Steeler history the San Diego fiasco, but then I didn't blame that on Cowher. One thing I did like about Cowher's team was that there was never any question who ran the asylum. Generally, trouble making (legal trouble) players were moved out, while loud mouths and malcontents were censored or moved along, too.
