I’m starting to sense you are not a Fields fan :hmm:

I’m good with giving Pickett another chance in a real offense, thats my preferred choice actually.

And who knows, maybe they come away with a good QB in the draft in case things don’t go well with Pickett.

Fields had chances to shine last season, instead the shining star was Shepherd College's Tyson Bagent.
Fields has thrown 40 TD's and 30 Picks. At least Pickett doesn't do that.
Fields is a 6.2 yard avg rusher.... I'd run the QB option all the time... just don't throw the ball.

But I digress, you already know this. :)

I mean they were the first team ever to have a winning record in the first 8 games even if they were outgained in yards every game

They had also a very tough schedule too....They face the 4 best team in the league(all with a 13-3 record or better)in span of 5 week at one point and 3 of those game were on the road.....And it was the only team to win with a record like that....This is a outlier....

McFarland and his "scat offense" is now playing in the UFL for the San Antonio Brahmas.

Im with you Blast, I would try and grab a qb in draft. Not really excited about someone else’s seconds.

And nobody was expecting the offense to be great with Canada as OC, if it happens again this season then I will be worried.

I could imagine a scenario where we started contract negotiations and balked at the price. That is fine. DJ also could be pretty fed up with having to have Pickett as his QB, so there isn't any interest from his camp... Either way it doesn't seem like a deal gets done, hence the potential trade headlines.

TBH I don't expect the offense to do a lot better until we get better QB play. Smith can scheme up all he wants, but if your QB can't see the open guys or he can't get the ball to him its all moot. I have faith that Smith will put us in a position to succeed, but we're still limited at QB at the moment so until that changes we kinda have to accept whatever comes our way. We're just going to have to win at the LoS and have success running against stacked boxes until (or if) Kenny ever instills some fear of the forward pass into defenses.

Diontae's last contract averaged 18 million a year, with a new contract he will probably be seeking a raise, I don't see the Steelers wanting to pay him like 20 million a year.

I'm optimistic Pickett can improve with a new QB coach, and a new legit OC.

It was obvious from the start it was such a terrible idea to keep Canada for one more year, one more reason why I am frustrated with the current situation of the Steelers....They are too slow to react, like 1-3 year too late every time in some situation:facepalm:

I've been thinking the same (I also like Williams, but he's nursing an ACL tear suffered late last season). A good center would be a relatively thrifty FA add in comparison to some of the other positions of need, which they could then address early in the draft.
