I sure hope they don’t overthink our offensive strategy

With lots of folks predicting the Steelers will rely heavily on the run game, I hope think there will be a lot of “they expect us to run, so we’ll come out passing” or “they will stack the box expecting us to run, forcing us to pass, but they know that, so we’ll run anyway”. I think it’s going to be a bit of a chess game, and I hope we don’t play checkers.

I hope Rodgers sees the open man, doesn't get fixated on one guy, throws good passes, and they catch them.
Most of the talk of scheming guys open is overblown. What's not talked about enough is the Qb actually seeing the open guy.
Even in M. Canada's crap system, You could find guys open that our Qbs didn't.
If a player comes open, the OC is basically scheming them open, if the Qb doesn't see it for whatever reason, it's for not.
Ask Andy Reid how well he's scheming people open since Mahomes is not playing, or why McVay traded away Goff for Mathew Stafford, or why Shanahan (who I think is awesome) couldn't scheme things open for Tray Lance who they traded 3 first round picks for.

The Steelers offense will be like the fine line between squashing grapes and drinking wine.

    What I’d like to see:
    - The Ravens will try to stack the box, so we’ll need to throw the ball successfully early to back them off.
    - Take advantage of the Ravens minimal pass rush and mediocre coverage on the back end with some of the following:
    - More Gainwell, even as a slot guy with Warren on the field on several plays. Put him in motion and see if we get a few mismatches.
    - More Freiermuth, including some routes up the seam, and maybe a sail route behind a WR running a vertical.
    - Try some 3-route combinations to one side of the field at varying depths, including the concepts above.
    - If we need to include some 6 and 7 man protections to give plays time to develop, give it a try.
    - Most importantly, Rodgers needs to ignore uniform numbers when looking for conflicts for the zone defenders and just get the ball to the proper read.
    - If we have 2 WRs on the outside drawing outside corner attention, Gainwell and Freiermuth are our potential mismatches against other defenders, especially Gainwell vs. a safety or LB, Freiermuth vs. a LB or either guy being savvy enough to find the right spot vs. zone. Use them!

I agree, but every once in a while You will see Muth over run the zone instead of sitting down.

Yeah, but not every route is an option route based on man/zone reads. I don’t think we can tell when he’s over running the zone as a mistake or because he’s supposed to run a particular route regardless of coverage.

I'm only going off when I see the D run a zone, and the players know they have to sit down, and he sometimes keeps running into trouble. Again he doesn't always do this.

    Agreed

Some guys are out on timing routes etc as a safety valve

You can’t have those guys just making up plays on their own that causes sacks and interceptions

I doubt the Steelers will have much success running against the Ravens. I just want Rodgers to target the best playmakers and not 15 targets to MVS and Miller .

There is probably a guy in a dark room that has not slept in 4 days. He is thinking......but they expect us to run, so we should pass. But they will expect us to understand that, so we should run. But they will have foreseen that, so we should pass. But.......

We win or lose this game with our defense. If they can bottle up Henry, we win. If not, we lose.....IMO

Our offense will do just enough if we keep the score close.

It's not called making it up, it's called adjusting to the look.
This changes by what the Defense is doing. This is why Rodgers likes guy to know there assignments. For instance, If You are a player that is asked to run a drag route , and You see the team is in zone, you don't run from zone to zone, You set down in between.
You are still running your route, but you are adjusting to the coverage.

Forcing the ball to MVS while it keeps failing is just asinine. It's not like you can just keep trying and hope he gets it after 50 tries; there are only so many downs until you blow your chance.

Stop the run and make Lamar beat us. I think Steelers need to be +2 in turnover battle to win this game. We also need Boz to be the old Boz and make everything. Remember a tie and we still win, hopefully Tomlin’s ugliness in play will bring this option in.

With some of the performances this year, I question if any thought was put into the game planning period
