can we please stop having him cover WRs on deep posts? He's been a great LB for us for several years, and I love how hard he plays. At this point in his career, though, covering tight ends (let alone receivers) is a bit of a challenge.

It was actually an incomplete pass to him but did you notice the play I'm talking about. I thought the same thing actually.

I think those were zone blitzes, which depending on who's in, leaves a LB on a RB (and on Hill once - yikes!)

Yep, I saw it. That wouldve been a big play if Alex make that throw

Smith missed Hill wide open deep a couple of times tonight, thankfully.

Yeah Kelce can whine all he wants about that one missed play but the fact is that they had a ton of chances they didn't capitalize on.

The good news (and maybe Butler knew this?) is that ASmith is a poor downfield passer. But seeing Timmons chasing Hill into the endzone at the end of a play, 5 steps behind him mind you, made me cringe.

Did Timmons give up any big plays?

Credit the D with making him uncomfortable, and maybe his big game temperament.

Sometimes that's just a matter of what play gets run. If the opposing QB reads the D and makes the call, theres not much you can do about it. It happens to every NFL team.

I thought it was absurd to watch some of the coverages tonite, I even saw Justin Houston trying to cover AB. You could see Ben stare at it and went right after it.
Houston is as big a thug as Deebo.

I don't know how a big Lb ends up covering 2 of the fastest guys in football, in Hill and AB.

Smith doesn't tend to look deep, he has a weak arm and his deep balls tend to float.

No, but not because he did anything good, but because Smith missed a wide open Hill numerous times. Timmons cannot cover speedy guys

They kept showing that Hill was wide open...one of the times Smith was running for his life from Harrison (and maybe Dupree). That would have been a 30+ yard throw across his body/field on the run.

The second one was when Timmons was covering Hill...if you look Davis was about 7 yards away in the end zone...Smith throws that and its probably picked.

They made it look like the Steelers were giving Hill all this room and Smith just missed him, but that isn't very truthful!!

It was the same with Harrison in coverage which was too many times for me. When Harrison dropped back into coverage Smith had way too much time and completed most of his passes that way. I was screaming at the TV to keep attacking with Debo as he was getting into Smith's head. I thought this was our only weakness on defense.

When the defense holds the opponent to 16 points... maybe rethink your criticism

Sometimes a defensive fire zone call is going to result in a LBer having to carry a route down field. Sure, we'd prefer the route coming in to Timmons zone is a dig/curl/etc... but that's not our choice.

They focused a lot on perimeter contain with the safeties, it's going to put the LBers in tough spots.

You can't just NOT have Timmons cover. It's just not a realistic understanding of the playbook, schemes, etc

KC had a LB on Brown for that big play, it happens.
