so would you just move beachum? I am just asking cause I respect your opinion. I think he has earned his spot. now right tackle is a different story

Armstead is an interesting guy. He had a nice game in the Natl Championship vs the Buckeyes. I think he was a basketball convert. Tall and lean. Steelers would be getting some good depth at DE.

Definitely not sold on PJ Williams in the first though.

at the beginning the new ot can play left guard or we can move beachum at guard or we can upgrade gilbert . a lot of possibilities if we take a good one..i'm not sold on foster at all

Freak, you make a good point on Foster but I can live another year with the line as set. Drafting an offensive lineman early unless a stud would not make much sense with a Defense full of question marks in the secondary and at OLB. Foster will be a UFA in 2016. He will only count a sliver over 2 mill this season. The fact is it wouldn't surprise me if they went OL though.

i agree we have other pressing needs , only the best player available thing made me thinking that .. i' don't see any olb this year as a game changer .. i see a lot of dion jordan and jarvis jones type of players ... while at cb is pretty deep (i like more than 8/10 cb for us ) so at 22 i was thinking about a lineman , a dt too..i was just looking at who can be a early contributor ...we can always trade down if we find partners

If we can find an OT that can handle the Suggs/Dumerville duo it would pretty much eliminate the only thing keeping Baltimore competitive with us. While our defense needs to fill some holes I don't think it's in as dire of a situation as some make it out to be. Adding the final piece to our already explosive offense could put us over the top while giving our defense time to mature.

Having a capable OT we beat Baltimore. Having a better CB or OLB and we probably still lose that game. We're about to hand Ben a huge contract so I think it would be nice to finally give him an OT that can protect him.

If an OT is on the board when we select it should at least afford a heated debate over automatically going defense.

We need a solid plan going into the draft . We need to know where we are with cap space and who we plan to sign off the FA list . To have a great off season we will need to get FA'S who can upgrade the Team and play right away.

We also need to draft guys with our first 2 or 3 picks who are upgrades and can play right away . So basically tie these 2 things together with multiple plans. If we draft this position then we need player x,y, or z if we draft that position we need player a,b, or c.

I have put some videos of some of our futures signings on the steelers talk pages, for people to look at. I liken some of these guys to seasoned draft picks, as some have some decent skills that could fit our needs as at least backups and maybe more.

most play them off as nothing more than fodder, but plenty have become good players from practice squads and late cuts by teams in the past. sometimes teams just don't have room or they are not good fits for some of these guys.

I kind of see a trend where we are stockpiling certain positions. this could mean several things. we either will go with who we have and not look to the draft for these spots or we are looking in every crevice to find players for that position and we want a lot to choose from and may draft that spot.

let's start with WR: we may lose moore. we cut Justin brown. DHB is a free agent and may or may not have done enough for us to try and sign. we may be so strapped with money that we can't afford to sign him and will opt for a cheaper solution. which leads me to one guy that they liked last year but he needed time coming from a small program.

c.j. Goodwin. good size, fast and seems to have good hands.- next we have

l'damian Washington. also good size and really fast and also seems to have good hands.

then we have a couple of smaller in stature wr's in that mix. we know we are probably set with at least 3 starters. we probably don't need to draft one, but there are some really good ones in this draft.

DE: ethan hemmer. played pretty well last year in preseason. matt conrath. decent size and a lot of length and moves well. joe kruger. he's sort of a tweener as a DE/OLB. comes from a good line of pass rusher. has shown the ability to rush the passer in college even from a standing start. possibility we could find two backups to heyward and tuitt out of this bunch depending on what we decide with keisel. maybe we don't draft one this year.

safety: Dangerfield. made the team last year and has shown some glimpses. kevin fogg. can play corner or safety. isiaha lewis. played well at mich.st.. alden darby. again a good college safety with some ball skills. let's add Mitchell, shamarko and what do we do with troy. we also have to make a decision on golden who becomes a free agent. maybe we don't draft one this year.

OLB: again joe kruger comes into play here. zumwalt. plays inside and out but we are pretty set on the inside it seems. hojo. a possible candidate. JJ we know. do we re-sign moats? do we re-sign worilds? do we re-sign Harrison again? if any of these things happen will we draft one this year or look to the pool of players we have for one more year?

it's going to be interesting to watch but I'm not ruling any of these futures guys out as possibilities, nor should we. they are guys that have put some NFL time in at least learning time, so they are a step above fresh draft picks. our defense is evolving into more of a specialty defense at times so maybe in certain situations some of these guys could fit the bill of at least backups and maybe more. it could change what we favor in the draft and what positions we pursue heavily. take a look at some of their tape. what say you all? :smiley1::cool:
