I expected a better performance from Mitch Trubisky

I am optimistic and I have a feeling the offense just had a bad game today, and I just have that feeling that they will be much improved next week. The Bengals defense is pretty dang good.

To me I just felt like we were trying to rush the offense. I’m not a big fan of all the motion going on before the snap, I feel that the line is having to think too much on techniques instead of just manning up against their man.

on a positive with the line, I am thinking we only had one holding call and no pre snap penalties.

Perhaps it's all he knows or trusts, but rushing Claypool 6x (I believe) to me really shows Canada is still college level. Jmho, but he is way over his head.

You could be quite correct.
I usually am the optimistic one....I think the probable loss of Watt has Me all screwed up . LoL

Yes hate the possible loss of Watt as well, however once again I am being optimistic and thinking that our defense can keep in tune if he misses games. I have never been one to think just one player can win or lose you a game.

I also want to say and no one has made any mention of this, but Claypool really seemed to be focused and much more mature this season, I think that will be an upside going forward.

I’d say in the moment he might have really thought he was hurt more then what he really is…at least I hope.

True story: I was in my little ones room the other day and I went to kick a balloon, my foot on the floor slid on a towel on the hardwood flooring and my upper half twisted and I could have swore I tore my bicep in half, the pain was unreal that whole night, woke up the next morning and it was as if nothing happened at all. And I’m 51….lol.

so praying that maybe Watt is okay.

Nope. Not Burrow's fault for the turnovers. Not the long snapper's fault, nor the kickers. You want to know who the Bengals fans are blaming for the loss?
The Coach. Because he had the long snapper on that last punt snap the ball with 15 seconds left on the play clock. Which gave us 15 extra seconds to get into field goal range. Which let us kick the field goal that cost them the game.

lets be honest. The offense hasnt improved at all from last two years. And I didnt expect otherwise. Trubisky was never impressive in his NFL time, so why would he now. Playcalling and offensive scheme was mostly the same as last year, with the same issues. O-line absolute trash in both passing and running game, resorting to fast and short passing because of it, irrelevant ground game. Defence super bowl ready, Offense one of the worst in the league. I do not see any hope this changes. The O-line cant even block for half a dozen decent runs in a game. If our ground game was good, it would make a lot of things easier but since it is not and the opponent knows that the pass protection also lasts about 0.5 seconds, it is not hard to figure out our game and how to anticipate this offense

Yeah I’ve heard a few talking about the coach not challenging the one play that chase had his foot on the Endzone line. And honestly that was not smart to not let 15 seconds run off. But did the punter make that call or the coach?

The coach. If it was us, people would be calling for Tomlin's head. Why should boy genius get a pass?

‘ya, that was pathetic coaching by Cincinnati. So was Steelers not running 3 times at the end of 4th. Trub was also not running the play clock down enough.

coaching in the league is sub standard

Hard to coach these days when their are set rules when you can coach and when you can't.

The NFL cares about money and only money. Their safety rules are only set enough to avoid litigation. That's it. Playing 17 games when 16 is already taxing, and they will eventually get 18, well, you aren't going to get much quality on a consistent bases.

This is why I'm dying to give it at least a few more weeks to see a better picture.

I honestly won't beat him up too much, because it would just be an echo chamber lol.

I was pleased that he ultimately led them down the field in OT twice for game winning FG attempts, with the first being a clunker. I'm more upset with Canada than Mitch TBH. DJ's route tree made little sense today.

Just looking at the game stats and the Bengals had the ball for nearly 44 minutes! 32 first downs to 13 for the Steelers. That’s really really poor.

It’s hard to see a path to being good for this offence unless they can offer a genuine threat down the field which is something Mitch has always struggled with. He has a decent arm but his accuracy down the field is very inconsistent.

I’ll need to watch the All 22 view before I get too down on what Mitch did yesterday. He certainly didn’t light the world on fire with big plays, but he also avoided the killer mistakes that bad QBs inflict on their teams. It seemed like he was almost hyper focused on not taking risks. Kind of like Tyrod Taylor. It was a Tryod-like performance to me.

Yes, but Detroit's tie was all MR's fault. Haven't you been paying attention?

Why would you expect a better performance? He is here for a reason. Could make things work if the OL and the rest of the offense get some rhythm going with coinciding play calling. Still waiting to see this Canada offense I've read on here for two years. Was it on display yesterday as I can't see the difference, no joke. Claypool still getting end arounds or whatever just like before. JMO>

Which just goes to prove that a lot of football fans are stupid. The reason he didn’t wind the clock down was so we didn’t have the opportunity to time the snap and possibly block the punt. Now an argument could be made to take the penalty then you don’t have to worry about timing the snap. However, there’s a problem with that as well. You give us the opportunity for a kick return as opposed to a touchback. Our offense had been pretty inept for the majority of the game. Taking the touchback instead of risking a huge punt return was the correct call given the circumstances.

who really thinks anyone built a boat big enough to hold two of every animal on the planet?not to mention all of the food and water required to keep those animals alive? Additionally no predatory animals are their natural prey? Who believes Jonah was swallowed by a giant fish and survived for three days and nights only to be vomited back up unscathed?

Again, stop with the short 3rd down throws and then circling back towards the First Down line.

    Go forward.
