I don't understand people who say Pickett is the best QB on roster so he is immune. Please help me.

Everyone wants the Steelers QB (Pickett currently) to succeed, right? Fans want the team to be successful. I am not anti-Pickett or anything like that. I want him to grow and get better. The problem is, he isn't. At all. He is really bad right now. The coordinator can't make him deliver accurate passes to the receivers that are open. The o-line CAN block better, but wasn't his mobility suppose to be an asset? He scrambles around in the pocket and gets hit with little to no pocket awareness. His receivers aren't really dropping passes because they aren't getting the ball thrown to them. The running game is pretty good and that should be opening things up for the passing game to be more successful, but it isn't.

There are no signs of improvement after ten games this season. The numbers are REALLY bad. There is nothing to point to as a silver lining. 6-4 record? What is our record if Boz doesn't make kicks or the D doesn't create 4th quarter turnovers? If you keep those things going and swap out Pickett for another QB, I think our record is the same or better. Pickett's contributions to our record are minimal and if anything, he is making it harder for everyone else who now have to carry the team to make up for his ineptness. Yes, everyone can perform better on both sides of the ball. It's a team game. But Pickett has shown that he can't make simple NFL reads or throws and he isn't getting better. Can we blame the coaches for not coaching him well enough to make simple NFL reads and throws? Sure, but why are we starting a person in the NFL who can't already do that? That's great for the practice squad or QB3 role. If he isn't ready, he shouldn't be playing. Period.

Which brings me to my point from the title. To those who insist that he is the best QB on the roster and he is immune to benching for that reason or being a 1st round pick or whatever. Why are you so determined to find a silver lining in a player that clearly isn't ready to play? When a playoff spot or even division title (until today) is on the line, do you want that or do you want to make sure that Pickett's feelings aren't hurt by being benched? I know you don't have any say over the matter and the team clearly is going to stick with Pickett because they are cowards who are prioritizing his development/feelings over actually competing for the playoffs this year. I say that because the offense is not good enough. The team knows that the offense is not good enough. The team knows that Pickett is not good enough. The team knows that they need a spark to their offense if they want to make a playoff run and compete against playoff caliber teams (Tomlin said this himself in a presser last week). But the team is trying NOTHING different, that we as fans can see at least, other than using Warren a bit more but not a lot more like they should be.

They need a spark. The team is flat. They are frustrated. Tensions seem to be boiling over. Pickett says he/they need to play better but he himself isn't. It is time to go to either Trubisky or Rudolph to see if they can provide a spark to the offense. If they do, great. We are better positioned for the playoffs. If they don't and we are knocked out of playoff contention, then we know that they themselves should be replaced, and we can hand the reigns back to Pickett to see if the time off helped him improve. If not, he should be jettisoned at the end of the season as well. That is what should be done if winning and the playoffs were their top priority.

But they are not. Pickett's development/feelings are.
