Just finished reading this. To say that Joe Cammarota contradicts himself multiple times during this article is an understatement.

To start, at the very beginning, he critiques the Steelers not fully committing to a rebuild. However, he made mention of how the Steelers aimed to get younger and better at other spots. While what Pittsburgh is doing isn't a rebuild in the traditional sense, Pittsburgh has been in rebuild mode since Big Ben retired. This pattern continues a bit down further in the article where he states the trade of George Pickens, in a vacuum, makes sense due to both Pickens' undoing and the additional draft capital; debunking his own claim of Pittsburgh not committing to a rebuild. Such initiatives require good amount of assets; doubly so when it comes to a Quarterback.

The most intriguing thing that he did state was that Steelers Management has told Steelers Nation as a whole that the team is doing all it can to win a Super Bowl. If looking at the moves made this offseason in a microscope, Joe is correct in the sense that Pittsburgh isn't even close to be called Super Bowl Contender status from that perspective. However, as his title states, the Steelers seemingly have no sense of direction; using this Offseason as a prime example. There is a major reason why there are so many disagreements within the article below on Disqus; something I have said in addition to Joe himself indirectly implied earlier as well.

Omar Khan and Andy Weidl inherited a mess after Kevin Colbert left. Having bad draft after bad draft will set a team back years; something that, again, Joe indirectly alludes to. However, to state that the team has no direction while using this Offseason to seemingly prove a point automatically discredits what Khan and Weidl have done up to this point. Khan's Free Agency has been hit or miss no doubt. His drafting though has been a different story.. thus far anyways. His inaugural class has to put it all together for this season and the 2024 Class has to have that Sophomore Surge; the main point of emphasis I have already made in this thread.

In short?! Joe Cammarota's frustrations with the team have less to do with Khan and more to do with his impatience. Rebuilds take time; not all rebuilds being the same no less. Now, should Khan's 2023 Class not perform up to expectations in 2025 (namely Broderick Jones), then and only then should there be an honest conversation about if Khan is the right man to lead the Steelers in the right direction.

Well that is true. Getting talent is one thing. Being able to coach them up is another.

im beginning to think Canada destroys Qb’s confidence. KP, and Trubisky are both seeing their careers nosedive after playing for Canada. Ben of course looked worse than he was at the end. MR is lucky, he pretty much escaped Canada’s influence.

as for the steelers direction or plan. Its easy to see, their going in to win now, but they are not sacrificing the future (unless they resign AR to a huge contract) which i doubt they will. Its actually looking like a decent plan - as long as they don't extend Tomlin (they need to move on from him after this season).

You would be surprised by how many fans don't get it; there are some fans upset by the Rodgers signing they want to tank for a better draft pick .

I'll say this, I'm definitely seeing a plan moving forward. There was some sense of direction this offseason compared to the past two. For instance, even if they don't draft a QB in 26, there's enough capital built up to acquire a ton of depth pieces in the draft in Pittsburgh. And a part of me thinks that they're going to have the same strategy in next year's FA period to acquire as many comp picks for 27s draft as possible. Then we can also look at Edge, for instance, someone like Highsmith could be expendable next spring if Sawyer steps up this season.

As for this current roster, I think the D will take a step back as Heyward and TJ are a year older and the DL will be young. Then at LB I'm not sure if Holcomb will return to form. That's a major hope that he does. I hope Beanie continues his progress as we need more chemistry on the backend. The more chemistry/communication is back there, the more Minkah can be Minkah.

I'm not anticipating a lot this season, but I can see better years ahead.
