This. He brought more than just being a LB coach. He didn't have to turn Bush back into his pre-injury self in order to have been a success.

TBH that's not an inspiring bunch

Spillane, Johnson, Allen, Gilbert are all primary ST players and will likely never be full time starting ILB's
Bostic had only started one season prior to us and played fine, he just was never anything more than a solid run-first LB'er
Shobert was aging out and the season with us was his last as a starter
Bush is simply just a headcase. He was developing well until his knee injury and he either didn't work hard enough to get back or just played scared after that.
Jack was injured and played fine enough.

The jist of this is we are not seeing any players being coached up by olsavsky. They never advance much if at all. Spillane has, but the rest have not. Jack is one of the better players we have added. I hope they don't ruin robinson.

A healthy D line and a little better depth in that department had more to do with the run defense improving than the line backer play..also finally sitting down Bush also contributed. Imo..

Its amazing what some different posters are saying and expected about Flores. In past months there were posts blaming losses on Flores because the O did not perform, so evidently he did not prepare them to perform against different D's. No doubt he has experience and intellect.that can be used and it can bring about some success, but you cannot expect him to make a hamburger into a filet migon. His coaching can elevate players to be better, if the players utilize what he teaches. His experience can help your O in certain situations...if the coordinator and the players spot and utilize the right plays. If Flores can work miracles, then I also guess he can turn tap water into Gatorade.

Maybe we got the most talent out of each of those guys? We might just need a bit more talent at the position.

very few players come into the nfl game ready. they have to be taught the game. not football but the nfl game. we could change players every year but it won't matter unless we have the coaching to bring out the best of them. all these guys are at the top of the football game before being drafted or even on a practice squad.

    Ohhh I like this.
Argument would invoke tua but I think you may be right.
Also could be that they knew he was gone anyway and said, let's see what 93 has.

With respect to the OP, only so much that Flores could have done. Bush is a major disappointment while Jack is a one and done player. What needs to be discussed is whether or not the Steelers will gun for a high ticket ILB in this upcoming FA (rather Tremaine Edmunds) or gun for Trenton Simpson. For that matter... here is hoping Andy Weidl checks out both Drew Sanders and Jack Campbell; doubly so in Campbell's case as he is built for the Tampa 2. Man Coverage.... not so much but Zone Coverage is where he can shine greatest. Sanders' versatility would be very appeasing as well.

Jack is not a one and done player, put somebody beside him that can play and protect him with a big nose tackle and he will make many tackles sideline to sideline.
Plus he was playing through injuries most of season.
