I think you're right about that. It's hard to tell exactly from the angles we have, but he didn't gain much, if anything. But he was making a wide U-turn, and he only took about 5 serious steps once he got all the way turned around.

He only had to go 10 yards you guys, not like he out ran him for 30.

Simply looks like he overshot Peyton and had to make a wide turn. Nothing more, nothing less really. I thought it had more to do with Peyton keeping our D on the field with the hurry up but really he just overshot him.

Exactly. You can see from the first replay how he has to swerve inside to get around Worilds/Franklin, basically sending him in the wrong direction. They were really far apart.

How much of the new rules about hitting is coming into play here? I noticed in the Cowboys/Giants game a similar play where Romo broke the pocket sprinted to the outside and two giant's defender were alot closer to him than Timmons was to Manning and Romo threw a little juke move in that fooled nobody but still the Giants seemed like they eased up and the result was a pass for a completion by Romo. In the old days you see a QB scramble like that you go full speed and try and separate him from the ball you don't hesitate like what we are seeing now.

Thanks for uploading TTF. Now that I can see it again, it doesn't even look like Timmons tries very hard to run him down. That may be why he makes no gains while chasing him full stride from about the 50 to the 56-57. Remember also that spurt was actually longer than 6 or 7 yards because they were running diagonal to the yard lines. My guess is he had about 8 yards to gain a step and he didn't but again it looks (especially from the rear angle) that he didn't try that hard.

Looks to me Worilds had outside contain and ended up on his ass. If he did his job Manning would had nowhere to go.

I have no problem with the standard being the standard,,I do however have a problem with the Caliber of players we have backing guys up and still expecting the same play...

BA made me sick we would have a noob come in on the OL who is 50 % as good as the starter and he would leave him 1 on 1 with Suggs...Guess what happened Ben got killed....

I think the bigger part of the problem on the Defensive side of the ball is it seems the D is just to complicated ....We have a lot better talent than Mundy we could put on the field if they only knew what to do?I say make the D easier or more Vanillia and get the talent on the field...

It drives me crazy to know we have a Back Up playing mainly because he knows what to do...Hell what good is that if he lacks the Talent to do it?

Who is it that you think we have that's better than Mundy? I'm not saying I disagree. I'm just saying I don't think we have a lot of depth and was wondering who it is that you are talking about.

HUH????????? 94 took neither a wide turn or had a bad angle. #93 doesnt fall on his ass #94 gets a sack on this play!!!!

Put Brown,Allen, or even te new CB at FS....All of them are faster and can at least cover some ground...With Mundy on the field it's a big play waiting to happen and the other Team is the only one whp will make the big play...

At least if we use the young talent we have a chance the Big Play will go our way.....I would put Brown baxk there he may have a bad game or 2 ,but at least he has potential to get better......

I don't believe the coaches expect the same caliber of play. Tomlin expects players to do their jobs to help the team win games. It appears to be that simple.

The coaches must not believe the talent on the team is a lot better then Mundy. Not sure how anyone out side of the organization knows the players behind Mundy are a lot better at this point of their careers?????????

You could be right. But I will say this. You know how we were all calling for the head of Willy Gay? Well maybe this explains why it took so long for them to get rid of him. Surely Tomlin and Lebeau must believe that Mundy and Lewis are the best. BUT given what Tomlin said about Dwyer "earning" more playing time then maybe his philosophy is to make them learn on the fly and put them in real game situations to see what they are really made of. I'm convinced that ANY corner on ANY roster in the NFL can make big plays during practice. However there are only a few Revis and Woodson's. You know what I'm saying?

Everyone who has a TV can see Mundy is not very good at FS.....Mundy is like Gay ....Just becasuse Gay was on the field it didn't mean he should have been...

Brown's Special Teams work looks a lot better than the play of Mundy...You can compare how the 2 tackle in space, you can compare who covers more ground while the ball is in the Air....Brown looks a lot better...

I agree that I'd like to have someone better. I'm just saying that maybe Tomlin is gonna let them battle it out on the field from week to week and give each player a chance to EARN their spot.

I might agree with that, but keep in mind Mundy has never been a selected starter. He's only been a backup that happens to get a lot of playing time because the starters are hurt/in Denver a lot. Gay was our choice to start for a number of years. And Mundy is sure as hell better than Tyrone Carter in all aspects of the game.

Plus, I would argue that he's a decent strong safety. He's a good hitter and good in run support. He's just not good enough in Clark's role.

This stuff seems so typical. When Clark or others didn't play well, fans call for the next man up. Fans call for young players like Mundy to get playing time. When those young players don't perform up to expectations, fans call for the next man up. I suspect the next man up might not perform any better or possibly worse then the guy fans wanted to be replaced. It's a never ending cycle of fans wanting the next man up.

we ignore depth at safety , troy is often injuried and the best we did is to grow a mundy , i suspect spence was brought in to play sometime in troy role but unfortunately is broken , not to mention we pay allen for what ? now?

If you look at the freeze frame as it is now you see Timmons arms are at his side? If you were in full speed pursuit would your arms be at your side?

The only explanation is that at the point of that frame he had given up in the hopes #65 Woods would continue successful pursuit. Incidentally in the same shot you can see Woods is working hard with his arms moving to get to Peyton
