Where in Vermont are you coming to visit?

I live near the Burlington airport, where I suspect you are flying in.

A lot of places to the south of me have lost power, but I don't know if it is for the long term, and the certain areas being referred to are remote parts of the state. Right now where we are, all is calm- for the moment.

Vermont is a very tough state, especially when it comes to the weather. You will be fine when you come here, I'll bet.

WOW! That was a massive storm! Finally got power back, I got lucky other then loss of power but a lot of devastation in this area, towns completely wiped out. Have to say this is the first storm that I have been through that I was actually scared, trees in my yard that would have took my house out had they gone down. Things still aren't back to normal around here, traffic signals still out, stores still closed but some started to open today. Gas stations are a mess, huge lines spilling into the streets causing major traffic jams. Seriously bad storm. And just heard that we may get hit with a nor'easter next week :frustrated:

Good to hear that you're okay though. I need someone to fight with about Ben. I've been watching the board closely seeing if any of the regular names I know have been inactive since the storm. It would be horrible to have someone on this site suddenly stop posting forever after that storm.

Thanks shaner :good: and I'm sure we'll be sparring over Ben soon enough :lolol: Hopefully no one from this site suffered anything too bad, would be a shame if we lost anyone from here.

Yes it was a massive storm. We left pittsburgh Monday am after the skins game and we drove in a steady 30 mph wind until we were an hour west of Chicago. Unreal how big that was. Chicago was going to shut down Lake Shore drive due to the wind and waves. Hope everyone made it through this one safely!

There are so many people that lost everything they own that it's tragic to think of how comfortable I still am and others who feel as though we can't help directly. I've lost all trust in government to do what it needs to do to help these people that if I donate clothes, food, money or anything else that it will help directly. If FEMA can't find it's way there then how can anything I send make any difference? There is so much red tape and BS union thugging going on that there are more people that will be hampered rather than helped.
Its funny (not really) but I said to my wife that when Haiti got crushed by an earthquake that Americans had concert benefit after concert benefit for however long it took to try and help that nation. Tonight they had a 1 hr special that nobody really paid attention to. The media just doesn't care.

It is very sad, but your government really has not shown interest in helping those who truly are in need. I mean, if the 1st responders at the WTC disaster haven't been cared for, what chance does anyone else have? That really isn't meant to be political banter either, it applies to all politicians of all parties. After hurricane Katrina, I figured the government learned their lesson. This time around, Obama promised there would be immediate help to all those in need, and so far, many have been ignored. It's just inexcusable.

I have no idea if the Canadian government would be any better in time of crisis, I hope so, but it hasn't been put to the test as we generally don't get hit with the same type of disastrous weather you guys do.

To add insult to injury, early forecast models are predicting a Nor'easter for Wednesday. :frustrated:
