Looks to be a beast of a storm. Stay safe down there, everyone.

A lady I go to church with has a daughter that lives in South Carolina and they were forced to evacuate. They're expecting it to be bad. I hope it's a dud. Last month when we flew in to Florida we flew in on the afternoon the first tropical storm was supposed to hit and I think it didn't turn out to be nearly as bad as they expected but as we were leaving St. Pete on the way to Orlando there were already waves from Tampa Bay crashing over the barriers on to the road. I can't imagine being in the middle of a true hurricane. It was really creepy to look at how violent the ocean looked just in a tropical storm. I saw a video a few years ago of a film crew that went to document Katrina and got stuck in a hotel and they were in a stairwell and the water kept rising and rising and the waves just mercilessly crashed in there. That's one of the scariest videos I've ever seen.

When I was a kid we were at Disneyworld during Hurricane Hugo and on the way back we took the long way through SC just to see the damage and it was insane how much damage it done. I also went to school with a girl that lived through Hurricane Andrew as well.

    Hugo was awesome
of course there were plentycups of mushroom tea the night it came ashore
    wilmington got alot of rain
i had friend s in Myrtle beach and their house got washed of the foundation
they ended up putting it up on stilts after that
the ride down to charleston was crazy
all the trees laid down in the same direction all of them

a friend of mine worked with power and was in Hugo and Andrew
said areas in south florida were pretty dangerous

I've got 12" of rain and high winds. Expect 3 or 4 more inches.

    Hurricanes suck.
