I was looking forward to Mason then Howard Saturday. Because of injury to Howard maybe Rodgers gets a series or two????? I expect Mason and Thompson Saturday.

They need the work. I have a hard time believing Rodgers won’t get a few snaps

I wouldn't get too antsy just yet. Playbook is the same and our player (on paper at least) are a good bit better than the crew we had last year. It may take a little time to gel, but that is what camp and preseason are for.

Wilson is definitely a bit worrying, but its too early to panic on him. Lets see what he does in the preseason. If he looks lost out there, then maybe we make a move at WR before the season. We owe it to ourselves to let him get a good look. Can't just get impatient when young players aren't producing instantly.

This is a huge setback for Howard. Not necessarily in the long run, but the preseason was his chance to see actual game reps and prove to the team that he might be a guy worth building around for the future. Now his only shot is through injury during the season. He obviously can compete with a drafted QB next year as well, but he really has to impress/get lucky with injury otherwise.

I think the defense is quite good. Now, I'd prefer to see the offense putting up a better show, but its always more slanted to the defense in camp. I'd expect our defensive unit to be quite good with an elite front 7 and really quality CB corps. We are going to dominate mediocre offenses and turn opponents over quite often. We just have to show out when we play the top offenses if we want to go anywhere in the postseason. As for Rodgers going down, it would obviously suck.... but Rudolph is a quality back up and it appears that Howard has shown up and looked quite capable in camp. I think Howard and Rudolph are as good of contingency plans as there are around the league.

I hope the mood is a good sign too. I know the preseason outcomes are completely meaningless, but it would be nice to see a few key pieces take steps forward. Namely the young OL players and guys like Porter and Payton Wilson. It would be nice for Johnson to have a good start too.

I doubt Rodgers sees the field much. It wouldn't surprise me to see him get like 6 total possessions in the preseason. Maybe 1-2 in week 1, 3-4 in week 2, maybe none in the finale. Just enough to get him warmed up.

As I always say if you have 6 quarterbacks you don’t have one

Ok I never actually said that

Crap. I know that he was almost certainly the #3, but preseason is when we were going to get a chance to see what he has. Now we won't. Hope he gets to 100% quickly. 3 weeks for anything fractured in the throwing hand of the QB seems overly optimistic to me. I know that they said at least 3 weeks, but I would not expect anything less than 5. Add in therapy and training too. :(

Wilson is definitely in the #5 spot on the Steelers depth chart.

I think that the offense is facing a double whammy. They are going up against a very good defense, and they have a lot of new moving pieces on the offense. Hard to deal with the defense when you are still trying to put your pants on.

This was the Brown's plan all along! "Take your pick of our QBs. They are all about the same. We will take Kaleb in trade."

Wonder what the Vegas odds are for the Browns to go through double digit qbs this season?

Probably true about an AR injury. Just a fact that comes with being 42 when he plays. Doesn't matter how good everyone around him is, age is a *****.

Maybe we will get a blowout against someone and we can put in Howard for a few plays to see what he can do. Although I struggle to imagine the Steelers with a 3 TD lead over anyone in the final few minutes. Just not our scoring standard.

Putting him in for a few plays would mean he was designated as the number 2 man as the 3rd is restricted to emergency activation. Depending how the season goes I could see it happening, if things start to go south and we are officially out of the PO's it would make sense to let him get some lumps to see what you have.

It’s an unfortunate set back, going to miss valuable time for him but it’s still just 3 preseason games.

His real benefit will come from learning from AR all year, being a sponge and seeing how the game is played at this level.

He’s been impressing everyone, I still feel good about his chances. I think being drafted into this situation is the best thing that could have happened to him.

I think he is commenting about Saturday's game. He feels AR will see a few snaps in 1st pre-season game. Since Howard is out I might be leaning that way too. ??????????????????

One thing the Steelers don't give their fans is a lot of comfortable games. My Eagle friends seem to have a lot of games wrapped up by the start of 4th qtr. They tell me it's a nice Sunday. I sure wouldn't mind that feeling.
