I have never, ever, ever gauged a season outcome based on anything I've seen in preseason.
It's all about evaluating those depth players and spotlighting some of potential game day players (players who don't show metrics but come game day excel)
Short story: Preseason 1991 Washington DC. The Redskins got manhandled a lot that preseason. Yet still there was something about that team, you could feel it.
It was almost like Gibbs was just running a joint practice for those preseason games.
The rest is history, they were ranked as the 4th greatest teams in NFL history at the time. They more than doubled the opponent scoring.

So, I don't have to trust you, I know.
I just want to see players giving effort.
When the first team is out (if) you want to see some wheels turning, some cohesion.
It's not wins. Only Baltimore cares about wins in preseason.

Actually it is now 6 QBs under contract. Watson is still in Cleveland.

i'd say your young draft pick makes the 53 and you take the chance with skylar on the PS. you can elevate him like 3 times during the season if needed.

roc taylor from memphis has shown some talent too. scotty miller is a vet and so is skowronek, woods and austin when he gets back. smith, friermuth, washington and then the RB's can fill in for receptions with DK as the head pass catcher. there are plenty of guys to throw the ball to. heck even heyward if he's kept. wilson will come around.

except that Balt wins in PreSeason and a good bit in Reg Season. Running into some probs with KC and Buff, but they are still top tier, right now.....

Dude, a lot of 2nd , and 3rd stringers will see the field throughout the season, on every NFL team. That's why You must see which ones you want to keep.

KC Balt and Buffalo are the top 3 in the AFC for sure. Big drop off to the next teams like Cincy LAC Den and Houston. Steelers probably notch in right below those 4 although you could argue we are in that mix. Problem is we are nowhere near the top 3 thus a WC smack down is on the horizon.

2nd string for sure but even they don’t see a ton of preseason game time. At least the top end backups. 3rd string guys would need multiple injuries or be playing on special teams. I’m not saying pre season is pointless to fill out a roster but you can’t determine much when the real games and starters are on the field.

That's not true. You think the special teams is all starters, and the special teams are used all throughout the game.....plus rotation players. Now the 2nd, and 3rd string Qbs might not, but that's about it.

Every year there are low drat or UDFA that seem to get fans attention, Roc seems to be one of those guys. Have no real expectations, seems like a good kid and if he does enough to make the team good for him.

No I said those guys play special teams. Preseason is great for working on special teams.

All I was going off was the part where you said 2nd , and 3rd string players wouldn't even see the field in a real game. So apparently there was a misunderstanding, or something.

Well, I guess I will stop pimping him now. I’m sure that will make a few of you happy. Back to the trade up in the first round for a QB discussion.

No I meant third string/practice squad guys won’t see the field likely besides special teams or a rash of crazy injuries. Those are the guys who play the majority of preseason games.

Im disappointed because these games would have been nice to get a small gauge on him now we will go into next year with no clue besides him running scout team practices.

I would say on a side note there is a very high probability AR gets hurt at some point which would mean Howard could get a backup helmet.
