I blame the blood moon. First Abe gets killed during a blood moon and now Ben gets hurt. I say no more blood moons!

Now that Ben is on the shelf, Mike Vick, will get most/all snaps in practice and hopefully knock the rust off, hopefully be better prepared to play. I agree with your assesment.Ball security should be preached to Mike Vick for the time he will be running the team.

I have thought about this, i am not so sure
Todd Haley is up to the task to get a player with Mike Vick's
skill set ready. Just preach ball security Todd and hope #7
    comes back quicker than expected.

No way 1 day of practice is going to get the rust off, on top of that he will only have about 15 plays scripted for him, and how many illegal formations and false start penalties is he going to get on this offense, he hasnt played in a game in over a year, he never had a preseason, tomlin should get fired for this blunder.....

I was wondering the other day what Haley thought of Vick being brought in. There's been a lot of coverage about how it was Tomlin's move - so do you think Haley was consulted before? Perhaps they discussed how Vick could be used should Ben go down? Or was it more like, "morning, Todd, here's your new back up QB"? Has Haley been making plans for how to implement Vick in the game since he signed?

In my unsubstantiated opinion I don't see Tomlin asking Haley for his pinion on Vick!

Yeah - and as HC, that's his prerogative - but at the same time, I can well imagine all of the relevant staff sitting down once Grad was injured and talking over who they could bring in. It would be interesting how much Haley thought he could "do" with a player like Vick... Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Well it certainly wasnt a popular decision with the fans, I'd say about 80% of steeler fans was against signing him, and if he has a bad game the boo birds are going to roar tomorrow night..

Fired for what? For our backup QB being injured late in preseason, forcing us to go to the market and find another vet before other teams finished their roster cuts? Some people seem to think that there were solid QBs sitting around out of work when Grad got hurt. That wasn't the case. The scrap heap was really just that. Some guys were cut a week or two later, but by then we were rolling with our roster into the season. I suppose we could have cut Vick and signed a guy like Ponder after Oakland cut him, but then we would have been supremely screwed had Ben been hurt before the new guy learned the offense.

Not sure Ponder is the Answer you are looking for Elvis. He was up and down his whole tenure in Minnesota and that was with a power run game, so it would be like signing a guy just a notch above Jones.

he may have a cannon but we dont need a blast radius type of throw we need a sniper rifle. dicks got legs ( probably developed by running away from loose PBulls at his compound) but he was rated the 2nd worst throwing QB in the league , cant hold onto the ball while running either , LJ had amazing stats in college and was very well versed in the playbook with 1000 hours of working with our coaches and mirroring Ben so makes perfect sense why they picked dick.

Maybe he can hand out gatorade on the bench? On second thought, bad idea. He'd end up throwing it into the stands.

As long as Ben is out, it should be Jones on the field, not Vick, he just does not read our system and I don't think he ever will.
