I found this to be an interesting read regarding how tough it will be for Tomlin to publicly explain not bringing BA back and bringing Haley on board. If you don't like Tomlin you probably won't like the article because it's more pro Tomlin but regardless I still think it raises some good points. Check it out:

I think he's trying to start trouble. Sounds like he has a problem with what went on and is trying to project that onto Tomlin. I seriously doubt Tomlin will want to leave a franchise like this just because Art wanted to go a different direction at OC, if he thinks thats bad, go try working for Snyder or Jones or Pioli or the idiot down in Miami. Cooks a media guy and is just trying to stir up drama, they live for it.

I don't understand why the media thinks Tomlin or Rooney somehow owes anyone an explanation.

Look, it was time for Bruce to go... He wasn't getting the job done. Does Tomlin really need to come out and bash Arians? As a personal and professional courtesy they should just move on and keep their trap shut (like they have).

It's not some huge mystery why this has all gone down.

Im getting tired of the post. Did anybody read the article about goodell being good for the nfl and us steelers fans just need to deal with it. If these mfers have such a problem with the steelers stop covering them.

Interesting read. It said Tomlin would be present at the news conference but did not mention Rooney. I take that as a "no", but if he is there, not a question at all that it was Rooney's hire and only Rooney's hire. Man, this has been an interesting & fun off season so far. Can't wait to see what's going to happen next! :dancing:

Cook was an Arians lover he's looking to start something, I live in Toronto and have only read a few articles from this clown, but I already hate the guy. We have enough of these idiots here who try to start things with the leafs.

I understand some of you guys hating Cook, hating Arians, hating the PPG, etc., etc., etc., but the reality is Tomlin will need to address this issue because he will most definitely be asked about it by both the local and national media and how he responds to those questions will more than likely determine if it's a non-story or if it's something the press will try to get more mileage out of. Of course Cook is trying to stir the pot because that's what they all do but given the circumstances of how BA departed (after Tomlin already told him he'd be back) I think it will be interesting to see how Tomlin spins this and ultimately what if any factor the whole thing might end up having on his desire to keep coaching for the Rooney's going forward. My guess is it isn't a factor at all but what the hell, it's the off season so I thought I'd throw it out there to hash around a while ;)

Tomlin doesn't need to address any of Cook, Dulac, or Bouchette's questions about the retirement / termination. Simply put all he has to do is say, that's in the past, we are preparing for the future... get over yourselves.

I'm thinking Cook, Dulac and Bouchette must have also been good buddies with Arians, or Arians was their deep insider informant. They need to move on and get over themselves, what's done is done. The national media could care less, it's just the PPG guys that I've noticed with a stick up their a$$

I really think Cook and others are making too big of a deal out of a possible problem between the Rooneys/Tomlin/Haley. If you look at the picture on the first page of the Trib Steelers section, Haley is at the podium and Tomlin is off to the side. He looks awfully relaxed and his smile seems to be genuine (Tomlin's). I think there is a real possibility that Tomlin is GLAD that the fate of Arians wasn't placed upon him and I think he truly likes the philosophy, work ethic and style of Haley. Perhaps in the case of Tomlin/Arians, they were a team who genuinely liked each other personally and respected each other professionally. In those situations, it is very difficult to tell the other person that you don't think their work meets your expectations. So, of course Tomlin told Arians he wanted him back in 2012. However, since Tomlin is the one that says "The standard is the standard" and too many times the offense did not meet the "standard" this year, maybe Tomlin was quietly relieved that Rooney did not extend Arians' contract. Haley sure TALKS like someone who buys into Tomlin's philosophy. I guess only time will tell.

Yup. He doesn't have to mention Arians, if he's asked he can simply say: "Bruce isn't here, we've moved on, the standard is the standard, we make no excuses, and we embrace the challenges ahead". He doesn't need to show support, justify or address Rooney's move, he only need to express that he's happy to have Haley (whether he is or not is irrelevent). Tomlin was pretty much hands off on the Offense when BA was here, I suspect he'll continue to be so.

Makes sense and I can see Tomlin handling it this way.

We all know that coach T is never at a loss for words, he will explain it as only he can.He will do a fine job of giving answers and still leave us all asking "what is it that he just said?" To me it's a non-issue. Did anyone else notice that slap on the butt that Tomlin gave to Haley as they passed each other after his introduction? That's like a sign of respect and acceptance and to me looks like Tomlin is very happy that Haley is here. With the way that Tomlin likes to delegate his power to his coordinators it must be comforting knowing he has a former HC to command the offense. He should have more time to focus on the 'little' things in the game like clock management ,time-outs,reviews etc...We can definitely improve in those areas and I think having a former HC on the sidelines should be a big plus++.
