McDermott has an elite quarterback and a strong team and can't get over the hump, so no.

    Bowles? LOL

    Johnson is even more laughable.

Vrabel has no rings as a coach and has not done well against Tomlin head-to-head. He probably has the superior team this year and Tomlin's Steelers still beat his Patriots.

Laugh at Bowles... but he's done more with a once down-and-out Mayfield than Tomlin did with every starting QB since Roethlisberger retired, minus Rodgers.

I would take 21st centrury Johnson... over 20th century Popcorn any day of the week. Caleb Williams looked to be another Vince Young... but he's turning it around. Do you really think Tomlin could develop Caleb Williams? :roflmao:

There are definitely 4 coaches that are better than Tomlin. There are 6 other coaches that have more recent success than Tomlin. Tomlin is in the top 12.

Vrabel's 2019 Titans actually beat the Brady Patriots in the playoffs, beat the Ravens in the playoffs (something Steelers haven't done since 2010) and were much more competitive in the AFC Championship vs the Chiefs than Tomlin's Steelers ever was vs Mahomes QB'ed Chiefs or Patriots in 2016 AFC Championship.

Why are you making this so easy for me? :lolol:

I don't agree. I think Tomlin has dropped to around middle of the pack.... ranked 17-20 out of 32. Somewhere in that range.

Take a closer look at when Mayfield started to turn things around. That process began with McVay during the year Mayfield was with the Rams, not in Tampa. You are giving Bowles credit for something he did not do. You are also ignoring that Bowles was a disaster with the Jets and his career record is nine games below .500. He is 1-3 in the playoffs as a head coach with no Super Bowl appearances. I like Bowles. I think he is a good coach, but no, he is not better than Tomlin by any measure.

Now you think having a game be a little closer somehow matters?

The only reason you think it is easy is you think your poor arguments actually work. Tomlin's teams are 3-0 against Vrabel's, including this season even though Vrabel probably has the better team.

Vrabel has actually accomplished more than Tomlin has since 2017. Example: winning playoff games against teams that Steelers can't currently beat in the post season.

I see you are impressed by vague opinions supported by no evidence at all. Johnson has six games as an NFL head coach. His team this year has exactly the same record as Tomlin's team, but he doesn't have all those previous years of success. Johnson is a better offensive coordinator than Tomlin. I'll give him that. That doesn't put him on Tomlin's level as a head coach.

Silly me. I include all the available information rather than arbitrarily choosing a cut-off point to support a misleading argument like you are doing.

The bulk of Tomlin's success was with players drafted by Cowher... some exeptions Timmons, Woodley and Mendenhall. Steelers have been terrible in the post season since the loss to Tebow.

Barely beating the Bengals during the Burfict/Pacman game. Barely beating the Dolphins without Tannehill and barely beating the Chiefs with Alex Smith WITH the Killer Bs.

One could argue Mendenhall cost us #7.

Trying to be as objective as possible, I have Tomlin at #7. I think that's fair. An argument could be made to rank him anywhere from 7 to 12. If your ranking higher or lower than that then you aren't being objective.

    no

one play did not cost us

the Pack WR dropped at LEAST 3 TD passes.

    we should have lost 40 - 17......

    GET OFF of this narrative....

Tomlin hasnt really accomplished anything in the last 14 years. Thats the problem with him. A number of these coaches have more playoff success than Tomlin does in the last decade. Thats a good measure of who is better now. Career wise though, sure Tomlin is ahead of most active coaches. Bit im looking at who is the best now.
