For those of who follow players on the draft, how is it looking for this year? Looks like a QB might be on the radar now.

I am actually in the process of completing my Post Combine Top Five Positional Rankings my guy! To answer your question, this draft could have 5 QBs go in Round 1 of this season. The obvious ones are Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels; none of whom the Steelers would have a chance on. As for the rest?! Michael Penix Jr., Box Nix and J.J. McCarthy... those names have been flying around as either locks or potentially being in (Bo Nix anyways). Now, where do the Steelers fit in any of this?!

Likely not at all. Remember that the Steelers met NO QB at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. Given Pittsburgh's history of 1st Round Picks, I don't expect any of the QBs to be selected by the team.

Only remaining options are another Veteran such as Ryan Tannehill or the trade for Justin Fields. Either or is now in play. Whichever comes first remains anyone's guess. Looks like we will have to wait and see.

One thing is for certain though; the Steelers REALLY NEED TO get a grip on developing QBs as Pickett's Time in Pittsburgh, while some of it his fault, was also a letdown by the entire Organization. Keeping Matt Canada around on its own would be unfair as there are way too many shortcomings which led to Kenny being traded.

If there is a massive silver lining to all of this?! Omar Kahn is learning from past mistakes and is showcasing that he will do all he can to correct them.

This might have been when they expected KP to be here. They may have to adjust everything now.

Man, he must've really thrown a fit for all this to happen.

I am honestly not so sure. Then again, who knows?! I do know now that Bo Nix simply isn't happening; Jackson Powers Johnson as well... :(

As for J.J. McCarthy?! Possible... but he keeps climbing up draft boards; doubly so with Minnesota being reported to have a major interest in him. March 22nd will give me more clarity on where they stand for that day is Michigan's Pro Day but as regards to the Steelers... they'd need to have the firepower to move into the Top 10 to even acquire someone like McCarthy; something I'd advise extreme caution against.

As for other QBs?! As I have been saying for months... Joe Milton III isn't a name many would want but a name I wouldn't be shocked to being linked to the Steelers. Tennessee's Pro Day is the 27th and Tomlin has made it well known he is infatuated with the SEC as a whole. He'd make the most sense though where to draft him is of another matter.

Thanks for the information fellas. Easy to digest stuff for someone that doesn't routinely track that kind of thing.

As a fan, I find myself a little bit worried about our QB situation. Russell Wilson's been traded twice for a reason. I think he's still got a little bit of game in him, but he's by no means a long-term situation for us. We just lost our quarterback of the future (maybe) and our long time backup. So we now need two quarterbacks. I could see us picking somebody up in free agency. But that is going to be someone similar to Russell Wilson who is just a stopgap. It's not our quarterback of the future.

For our third quarterback, again we could find something in free agency. But where does that take us? We are still going to end up with another backup quarterback that nobody else wanted and again this won't be the quarterback for the future.

I can't see how the Steelers can plan for the future if all three rostered quarterbacks are limited in time or talent. I think they have to get someone young with potential to be that franchise quarterback. That points to getting someone in the draft. I don't want to see us going back to the Big Ben situation where we just kind of drop off of a cliff and never had a plan in place for the landing.

What about Jordan Travis from Florida St? The kid was lighting it up until his injury. Take a chance on him in the late rounds and let him sit and learn from a similar QB, Russ Wilson.
