there's about 5 coaches in the last decade better than tomlin.
there's 69 new head coaches in the last decade.
That is almost 1 in 14 chances a coach was better than tomlin in the last decade.

https://gophnx.com/nfl-history-poin... changeā€,coaches hired in the last 10 seasons

https://www.milehighreport.com/2022...layer -,(never been an NFL head coach before).

Tomlin is in the top 15 all time winning percentage. with in the last 2 decades he is #4 on that last (with having 10+ more seasons then they do).
    - Matt Lafleur (3 out of 4 post season)
    - Jim Harbraugh (3 of 4 seasons with a post seasons, as well always winning at least one game in the post season).
    - Sean Mccvay (4 out of 6 post season)
    - Bill Belichick. Great coach with Brady. now he looks like crap.
    - Mike Tomlin
then the rest follows for winning coaches in the last decade
    - Sean Payton. great coach
    - andy reid. great coach
    - mike vrabel 2 of 4 post seasons. with now having back to back fails
    - bruce adrians 4 of 8 post season. with 3 losing seasons.
    - John Harbraugh 4 losing seasons. 11 of 16 post season.
    - mike Mccarthy (got fired in green bay mid season)
    - Kyle Shanahan 4 out of 7 post season. 3 of those were loses.

and then it drops off after that. with 60+ coaches who were worse with most of them being complete garbage.

this is the last decade our division is #1.

so not only is Tomlin a very good coach, he is doing it in the hardest division.

And with all that he has a losing record in the playoffs. He might go down as the greatest regular season coach but in all that matters to many is rings and the realistic chance of them. 100% super high bar I get it but we haven't smelled that in quite some time. And before you add in STD, yes we were in the AFC championship game in 2017, yeah and had zero chance of beating Brady. You know it, I know it and the world knew it within about 5 minutes into that game.

So now you need stats on how many of the 69 coaches didn't even have post season success?

And doesn't Tomlin have a ring?

Do you know how many don't have .500+

And Tomlin isn't barely over 500. He's .636. With only 4 in the last decade that are better (yet he has 10 plus seasons on them).

I do not dispute that winning record is impressive, and maybe we are spoiled, losing sucks. But honestly I would take a 5 to 6 win season and be able to build a better team, like Cowher did several times, that the constant mediocrity we have become. Yes the record is the record, but those early season wins were not competitive, the 3 losses (2 at home) were embarrassing. The same people were on this team, a really good coach makes adjustments...we did not. yes we are 9-7, and still need help for the play offs, MT said in his presser every game during the season counts, well evidently not.

Tomlin is a very good coach. But he's not a great coach. He's on par with Pete Carroll, and ironically Seahawks fans want him fired as well.

Been to 2 SBs, 1 time Champ, 3 AFC Title Games and only won at least 1 playoff game in 4 of his 17 seasons, meaning he's fallen flat in 13 seasons. Let's stop saying yinzers are spoiled. Kids that were five during the last SB win are now 21.

If the Steelers don't make the playoffs this year, they will have missed the playoffs 4 times in the last 6 years since 2018

As I said this morning, Tomlin's floor is one of the best of all time, never under .500, but his ceiling since at least 10 years has been very mediocre and I prefer to have a bigger ceiling even if that means a lower floor.

Here's what I wrote this morning in another thread

Congrats Coach Tomlin on 17 years of non losing seasons | Page 3 | TheSteelersFans

Marty Schottenheimer had a career (21 seasons?) of .613. but was .278 in the playoffs, never advancing past divisional round. Right now, THIS is where are are, you can be a winner and still suck, just saying.

I don't care about the other teams. Do you want him for another 5 or 10 years, when is it time for him to go? Let's say we have a winning season the next 5 years but never win another playoff game, are you satisfied? I want the bar to be consistent deep playoff runs, yeah a super high bar but that's what fans of this team want. Jesus man the guy has been the head coach for 17 seasons and hasn't won jack in years so lets move on to some new blood.

Marty has been in the AFC title game 3 times(1986,1987 and 1993)

True his playoffs record was awful but he is also the most unlucky coach of all-time...Never have a break in the playoffs

You know Cowherd said something the other day (and I usually think he is just air, lol About the Chiefs, they have had a run, coming off a SB win, and struggling this year. he was asked if a season going to the playoffs and getting one win was a success. yes, because every team rebuilds. If your team is in an off year and still wins a play off game, you are doing OK. We have not sniffed a PO victory in years, let alone winning OUR own path to get there, yea it's time.

I care about the other coaches because 60+ have been worse than Tomlin.

I don't feel like the next 30 years with rotating coaches to find the one that works better than Tomlin.

Y'all don't put statistics into it. You just put how into very very low odds of being better.

Amazes me how many ignore how good it is with being in the hardest division.

Not once do y'all call a coach to get before the season starts. Do you know why? Because you would be wrong 13 out 14 times.

Y'all are like a spoiled kid who has a very good running 2020 Lamborghini that's been in magazines, yet complains.

So let me understand this. If Tomlin had the same outcome, but had 4 coaches who became HC with winning consecutive rings. You would be happy?

Late 80's was "The Drive". If memory serves Marty had the Browns looking good that season. Pretty sure the Browns were actually hosting an AFCCG. John Elway did like a 99 yard drive in 4th quarter to win it for Broncos. I remember pulling for the Browns. I liked Marty. I doubt they went back to another AFCCG after that until this year that is;) Pretty sure they beat us twice that season.

Dude....You maybe can take a losing season, but as I have seen on here....a lot would not....they go ballistic if we lose a game. Also I have seen this team go 5-11 , and that didn't get us a SB win anytime soon, and 6 -10, and not a SB win anytime soon....Yes we have went 6-10 more then once for the people that will say we got Ben. So there is no guarantee We start losing seasons We get better quicker....matter of fact with Noll, and Cowher...it shows we didn't.

The steelers have been in the AFC title game 2 years before and 2 years after 1999 when they were 6-10.....How many time the steelers have been in the AFC title game since 2011?

People think it's green for the rest of the league. They don't get it those teams go thru several head coaches just to find one that gives them a little post season success.

I will say that if Tomlin doesn't have post season win next year (maybe 2 depending on how the team looks). Then I'm fine with moving on..... but I know it has great chances of being worse to where we don't see a post season for 5 years.

    2015 one win post season
    2016 2 win post season
With 6 seasons out of ten

What do you mean he's done nothing in ten years.?
