Martavis will never play another snap for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I can't believe any steeler fan would think otherwise. We will try to trade him for a draft pick next off season. If for some reason we can't we'll just cut him.

No I came up short as well - ran out of beer by halftime and had to watch the rest of these games sober. :drinks:

I know I know - rookie mistake - forgot to factor in the evaporation effect for 6% humidity at 4000 ft elevation. Have to relocate to Costa Rica like many others here in Cali. That way I'll end up with more beer than I started with.

more beer than to begin with????
sounds like science of some sort
i'm not too sure how to approach that one;)

i wouldn't need any persuasion if the bottom line was Costa Rica

something about the tropics replenishing your refreshments - not sure if it's climatic or Jo-Bu at work. Either works for me.

My gut feel is they will give him another shot, or they would have already done something. They probably would not get much in a trade for obvious reasons. And to flush that much talent down the drain, when it really costs you nothing to try him again, doesn't make good math.

    Just a thought.

    This.

The only thing stopping Bryant from playing another down for the Steelers is Bryant.

If he stops failing drug tests, he will without a doubt, suit up again for them in 2017.

I should make the OP's prediction a sticky, would be fun to revisit that one next year :lolol:

I suppose we wouldn't even have to wait til next year though theoretically would we? I mean couldn't he fail a test even during his suspension or is he not required to be tested during his suspension?

I don't know. Did Gordon fail his test during his suspension or after but before he applied to be reinstated? I think maybe the later.

I believe he failed it during it didn't he? That's what I was thinking too.

Tell that to Santonio Holmes. If the steelers are willing to dump a SB MVP after his best season because of his issues... Bryant has no chance to stay in Pittsburgh. Nothing to lose you say? How about a roster spot? Another infraction ends his career doesn't it? The Rooney's are willing to forgive but... as they say "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" They will make an example of him. A player is not bigger than the team.

If they're done with him then why not release him?

Not sure what the rules actually are but releasing him might mean they have to eat his cap # and $. AND if we are doing that anyway why not try trading him next offseason? He has zero trade value now.

After he's back to practice and showing off his skills teams might be willing to pay for that?

The Cowboys have the best O-line yet Romo keeps getting hurt.

The Steelers aren't going to release Bryant unless he's facing a suspension in 2017, he's cheap and they control his rights for 2 more seasons.

They're not worried about the cap hit from a 4th round draft pick on his rookie contract.
They're not hanging on to him for some possible trade scenario either. Barring any other issues he'll play for us again.

They dont have to pay him this year at all since he is suspended without pay, even if they did cut him his cap and dead cap is peanuts, same next year. In 2016, Bryant has a cap hit of $109,805 while his dead money value is $219,610.

We'll need the defense to be "at least" top 10 by mid-season before I'll be confident in our chances of realistically getting #7 this yr (the team was #21 last yr).
The offense will have to be generally healthy as well but -just like every season- someone's likely to be hurt for at least some period of time. As long as we make the playoffs and 90% of the starters are ready by then.
