I didnt pick them to win just because I'm a homer. I really felt that the Colts O-line set up well for what the Steelers like to do on Defense. No way anyone saw this offensive explosion, but I really did feel they could get to Luck. Speaking of Luck, does anyone get rid of the ball at the last second better than him?

He is very quick with release but he gets hit far more often then he should .. Even more then what Ben use to get hit lol. He is also like 3rd in the league for interceptions. Probably should concentrate on making more accurate throws

It's almost like he likes getting hit and showing how he can shrug it off and get better as the game goes on.

Inremember Ben being like that as well. With the shots Luck is taking he wont last long at all. Youth is fleeting as a QB in the NFL.

So by signing a guy who is playing downright abysmally and cost us the Bucs game, then benching that guy and the replacement plays well gets Tomlin props in your book?

I know Tomlin isn't the GM, but geez you have to do some incredible mental gymnastics to give Tomlin credit there..

Does he also get credit for finally benching Justin Brown who was a big factor in the Ravens loss for Martavus Bryant? And for playing the mountain vs HOU despite leaving Cam Thomas in there so we could get gashed by the vaunted CLE running attack?

Yes sir.. he did not seem to mind getting blown up .. As you say as well I found it kinda unusual but he never really faltered and even in the last seconds knowing he was going to get smacked he was dead on with his throws. He is one tough SOB

VERY much like how Ben was..

Yeah, considering that many of you think he just stands on the sidelines with a deer in the headlights look and does nothing. Damn right he gets credit.

Tomlin has nothing to do with Cortez salary by the way, has zilch to do with this.

You can still fire LeBeau if you want!

I was never the one to say fire Tomlin or Haley. I think Tomlin is good for this team as long as he has above average coordinators.

Haley, I didn't want replace unless it turned into an absolute disaster. Ben is in his twilight years and need stability.

Lebeau, I believe still needs to retire. They won't fire him but I wouldn't be sad if he retired. We need some new ideas and blood infused in our schemes and I don't know how long Butler will hang around passing up coordinator jobs.

"many of you think" is a strawman argument.

Objectively: does he evaluate talent well?
I think we've established that his judgement was suspect in evaluating Bryant vs Brown, Mountain vs Thomas, Cortez vs Blake and maybe even adams vs gilbert.

I'm not saying he's dead wrong in all of those cases but I think it's a sizable list..

And I'm not sure how you can't say our head coach has 0 say in whether or not to extend a guy. Zero to do with the decision to extend a player?? And I do not buy that he would just say "extend the man at all costs" and leave it up to the GM. There's obviously correspondence with Tomlin as far as fair value goes..

Closer to a brick house, IMO

Bryant and McCullers were not ready to start the season, both looked pretty bad in preseason. Bryant was a 4th rd pick and McCullers a 6th? I think.

There was no reason to think Allen would struggle like this, there's a reason he got that contract, he was the clear choice going into the season. He'll get his job back too.

I didn't say MT has zero to do with extending a player, I said he has zero to do with how much money that player gets.

I ABSOLUTELY stand by every criticism I've had of Mike Tomlin, Dick LeBeau and company. My question is this. WHERE THE CRAP HAVE THE KINDS OF PERFORMANCES WE'VE SEEN THE LAST TWO WEEKS BEEN THE LAST TWO PLUS SEASONS??? Where were they earlier this year when we lost to the Bucs and got beaten like a drum by the Rats and the Clowns??? I'm very happy about the proceedings the last two weeks and I hope that we can keep it up. Maybe we've finally found the right mix of personnel and the coaches will continue to have the team prepared rather than coming out seemingly flat, unprepared and uninspired. I'm very encouraged and I genuinely feel like we turned a corner in the Texans game that will propel us to the playoffs. I'll make a deal with you guys that invariably want to post "where are the fire Tomlin threads now" after each victory. If you guys will cut that crap out I'll resist the temptation to be ultra critical of the coaches after bad losses. Deal??

Hey, I never start those threads Jack! :smiley1:

My point to the OP was just that every fan base of every team will alway have fans calling for the coaches to be fired, no coach is immune to it, I'm sure even dark hoodie has fans calling for his head.

At least you come on and celebrate and enjoy a good win :drinks:

That's the big question, isn't it? And it sits on top of all of our discussions from previous times about what's gone wrong with the team. Was it execution this week? Was it prep? Was it play-caling? Was it the opponents? A bit of everything?

So basically, the big debates about whether we have the right personnel in the right place are still going to go on. It's just that we can discuss it this week from the positive side (what went right) rather than negative (what went wrong).

Lebeau retires after the season. He'll be replaced by Rex Ryan. You heard it here first.

Not far fetched. Tomlin and Rex like each other.

One obstacle to that is, would be real crappy of the team if they have a gentleman's agreement with Butler to take over as DC after LeBeau leaves and then give it to Rex.

I think its Butler all the way.. I cannot see this organization hiring a loud mouth like Ryan to fill in for DL. Just not their style. You heard that hear first ;)

I have been as hard on Tomlin as anyone on here. I actually saw something in him in the that game (and actually in the Houston game, too). I am not ready to crown him the next coming by any stretch, but all I was looking for were some adjustments and he did that.

He may be a loud mouth , but Haley had a lot of baggage to ..I don't think the Team would pass him up if he was available....He is 1 of the best Defensive Coaches in the league and that alone would get him in the interview room..

So while some fans can't stand him , the Team will hire almost anyone if they believe it helps the Team win....

The stats can lie sometimes. I thought the D played pretty well for the most part. Sure, they had some big plays (damn you Cortez lol) but that was the highest scoring offense in the NFL. Also, I thought Andrew Luck's performance in the game was unbelievably good. He made some really good throws with guys hitting him from every direction. They had tons of possessions (thanks to us scoring on every drive) and were down early, which made them throw the whole game (only 7 rushes I believe).

If I would've told you we would hold Luck to less than 60% completions, pick him off twice, and scored 9 points on defense, you wouldn't care about how many yards he threw for... You would've thought we were probably gonna win that game. The defense was only -25 instead of -34 because of those scores. If we go -25 or less in every game the rest of the season, were gonna win a lot of games. Probably the division too.

Beat me to it. They hired Haley, everything else goes out the window. Plus, Rex the DC is much more low key then Rex the HC. He'd barely be in front of a microphone as a DC.

If there is no agreement in place with Butler, they should definitely consider Rex.
