I've seen the short videos and they are real. There's also one of him pulling a sled ( 1210 lbs ) . He's definately working hard, I'm hoping it translate to better on field performance.

The one of him pulling the sled is from the combine when he was drafted.
    He's always been very strong.

This is what you have to love about the pittsburgh steelers. Hoke and smith were always working on getter better in one way or another and it has rubbed off. If hood is coming into his own we should be able to get him back at a cheap rate.

I thought that I heard in a preseason game last year that he was the strongest guy on the team. He is not dominate at 3-4 d-end. Maybe he lacks athleticism and should be a tackle or nose tackle?

Meh, I'm pretty sure there was a wheel under there ;)

To those predicting he'll lose his job to Heyward, I guess it's clear that he's not going down without a fight. He's always been heavy into conditioning, but the fact that he's not slowing down is nothing but good news for our team. If he reboots his pass rush, he'll be a great player.

I am excited to see the line this year. Heyward should improve and based on these videos and the comments by the coaches...our line could actually be a strength this year. With Smith retiring and Hampton rehabbing an injury, I would not have expected as much. Here we go Steelers... :herewego:

maybe he should turn around and rush the passer backwards. i think heyward has better overall skills. pass rush/run stopping as a total package. ziggy needs to get off blocks better. i don't think his stregnth was ever a question mark.

Apparently this is more of a transformation than I originally realized. I thought he was just continuing to get stronger, but according to this he's:

-dropped his body fat percentage from 24% to 18%
    -lost 18 pounds of fat
    -gained 20 pounds of muscle

...that over a span of a month. There are before and after pictures too, with a noticeable difference. Definitely less fat in his face and gut, but he looks bigger overall. Strength has never been an issue for him. Even his "before" body was rarely ever beaten physically. He was in good shape and plenty strong last year. I'm excited to see how this translates to the field. He should be coming into his own this year in terms of comfort and experience, and if he's stronger and quicker, he could be a real beast for offensive linemen. For those of you skeptical about Ziggy, this has to be exactly what you wanted to see. He is taking this very seriously.

There's a comment by someone at the bottom that says, "Send Mike Adams!" I couldn't agree more. I could think of a dozen other guys that could use it too.

why do they have to go outside the organization to do this? what does giemont do for them? he's paid to do it.

on a side note, mclendon putting on 25-30 lbs. of muscle combined with ziggys 20lbs. of muscle, has got to help us up front. i hope they stay flexible throughout this process and don't tear things when the battling starts. they have to keep up both.

Hood can lift all the weights he wants, pack on however much muscle and workout like a champ but until he learns how to move a single offensive linemen from between himself and the QB it all amounts to a waste of time. Don't get me wrong I think his bullrush is powerful tool but he has nothing beyond it. He pushes the linemen back to the QB and then has trouble disengaging from the block and going for the sack. Start doing that and drawing a DBL team and then i will be impressed with his work out videos.

You might be on to something there. :lolol:
It's going to be interesting to see how that loss of body fat translates on the field. A 6% body fat drop is impressive.

Visually there is alot of difference in muscle mass and loss of fat.

Pretty amazing for 4 weeks of work. I am really pulling for this to translate to the field and for Hood to turn it on this year.

Wow, Ziggy is really putting in the work. I can't wait to see what he does this year. He obviously has some HUGE shoes to fill.

    I agree 100%.

Workout warriors are one thing. A player who hones his craft with improved technique and film study is another. I've been a little disappointed in Hood's performance so far but I also think part of that is he's been held back a bit and waiting his time trying to not make mistakes.

The hancuffs need to come off. A. Smith and Hoke are gone and he needs to step-up and be the man on the DL. He has Heyward breathing down his neck-- Though I think the plan is for him to replace Brett-- and a his rookie contract is nearing its end. Time to play great ( ala timmons ) so he can get paid.

Hey there's a thought. Didn't Jonathan Scott take a stab at turning around to pass block backwards last year? Maybe that technique would work for ziggy too!

I've seen it work for Woodley. He put a guy on his ass with his ass once.
