I just noticed, while reading an article in the Tribune,
That Chris Hoke was inactive for the second week in a row, despite being healthy...
I didn`t pay close enough attention during the game, to see...
But, who played nosegaurd, when Hampton wasn`t on the field?
I assume it had to be McClendon...
I still haven`t heard anything about us cutting Nick Eason, but I haven`t seen him, either...
Do we still have Eason?(maybe on the practice squad)?...
    And...
Has McClendon been playing well enough to un-seat Hoke, as the back-up?
I admit, that I tend to get emotional, during the games, and don`t always focus on the linemen...
But when Hampton was out earlier this season, Hoke seemed to do a VERY good job, in the middle of the D-line...
I believe he had a minor injury, that forced us to put McClendon in there...
Did he do so much better than Hoke, that he became the #2 noseguard?
If so... that`s a good thing, because Hokey is no slouch!, and Big Snack is getting some miles on him...

So we should assume the coaching staff thinks he is better than Hoke?
Do yinz agree that he is? Or maybe has more potential "upside"?
This is not a staff that gives young players time on the field, easily...

Hoke is listed ahead of McLendon on the depth chart but maybe he matched up better against the Bangals.

    Maybe he did...
After all, that is the same reason Coach T gave, for not having Hines on the field more...
Hard to believe we could have a "youth movement" going on here, after all the complaining on the board, about not getting the young players on the field enough... ;)

Given the performance by some of the younger guys and the beatings the veterans have been taking, it doesn't surprise me that there is a little youth movement going on. They have to learn sometime and that time isn't when they have no choice due to an injury to the guy in front of him.

Our older guys are the present, the younger guys are the future. This team could be special for years the way they are setting it up.

I have seen the use Ziggy Hood at NT. Hoke is good for about 6 to 8 games a year
at this pont in his career, same with big snack. NT must be a prority in 2012 draft.

i could see them getting heyward on the field more and ziggy moving to NT on a regular basis. this would leave mcclendon as the backup and ziggy able to slide over to DE once in a while. they also have corbin bryant waiting in the wings. i'm not so sure they will make that position a priority next year. they seem to like these guys. ziggy may be better off inside.

I was kind of thinking the same thing about Ziggy being better inside. I think Cam is going to be special at some point too.
